jdm wrx sti price?
hi a friend of mine has just brought a jdm wrx sti (bugeye) it has 20k on the clock its a 51 plate he paid 11k for it the guy told him it has ppp on it and is running 365bhp i thought they only run 310 with ppp but would it have ppp being a jdm??? i thought only uk cars have ppp as prodrive are over here in uk also it seems to miss when its idling and it shakes the car real bad could it be the plugs?? forgot to mention tha smoke comes out of the drivers side of the engine would this be rocker cover gasket?? like a plum he has put no smoke or something like that in the car is this gonna make it worse? and also what could be causing miss if it isnt the plugs??

Dodgy idle could mean the car needs a new MAF sensor... however the way I read Cocker reply there was "that wasnt the one from Cherrytree was it............ cause I looked at it and walked away from it because...."
Hope its just something simple mate. 11k sounds reasonable for a JDM STi Bugeye with low miles in mint condition.

Pass on the BHP thing.. I know UK cars were 265ps or 305ps if PPP fitted. I'd estimate the JDM at around 280ps on Jap Fuel, but could be wrong. Obviously if the car has modifications on it then the power figure should rise slightly.
Is there evidence of it having a service at 19k miles... Stamped book, new parts, reciepts etc?? From memory, a MAF sensor can fail pretty quickly so it might not have been picked up over 1000 miles ago when it was last serviced.

If I paid £11K for a car and it had a problem I would take it back if I bought it from a garage ......... If not I would take it to a local independant or dealer to plug it in and tell you what was wrong with it. No point speculating on here else you could end up changing 50 bits till you find the offending part.
