Default vf or td

if you had two identical wrx's except one had a vf34 and the other had td05 which would be quicker

i'd expect the VF34 turbo'ed scoob to be quicker off the line as it spools faster.

If both cars were identical in each way with the only difference being the turbo then the VF34'd car would be quicker. Thats assuming your referring to a standard TD05?

I'm no expert but the TD05 looks like a tough critter that won't break down and might get you to the finish line first LOL

my td05 16g used to spool up at 3,000rpm but as soon i decatted it, it now spools up at 1,800rpm and pulls right up to the redline, not sure about vf models alot of people say it spools up quick.

Thats a heck of a difference, are you sure, can't see the cats make that much difference off boost at 2000rpm!

Having said that the VF is a 'better' more modern turbo, so all things being equal I think the VF would make the 'quicker' car.

got a couple of other mods like scot.t chip and its even a bit less than 1800rpm now but even when i just had the full decat and green filter it was around 1800rpm.

Do you have a boost gauge or are you referring to 'spooling up' as the noise/whistle of the turbo..?

Would explain a lot, otherwise you've got something that I (or anyone else on SN for that matter) knew existed..!

I take it you're on about a scoob and not a TDI VAG..?!!

I have an sti, Used to have a vf35 now have a td05/18.

The 5 is way quicker, they spool very similarly, But the 5 Has loads more mid range and top end.

Both turbos mapped to 1.5 bar, same headers, induction. etc.

cant comment on the vf34 but i have used the vf28, 35 and now td05. Personally i prefer the td05. OK the 35 spools slightly quicker but watch out when the td05 comes to life, kicks you straight up the @rse and doesn't give up. Bob extracted 324ft lbs my00 and the gearbox is still surviving,
(fingers crossed)
