Thumbs up GB270 has anybody taken the plunge?

Just wondering if anyone has been silly enough to pay the £23k asking price and ordered one.

Maybe even more silly now the WRX hatch is coming.

(residuals, fav Subaru past time!)

Cheers

yeh my dads bought the Wagon with leather seats... is ideal for him..

he was goin to get a RS4 avant but thats 50k.. i know its alot of car but its a hell of alot of money..

why isnt the GB270 worth 23k?

its got 18" wheels, Prodrive quickshift gearbox, Prodrive Springs, Prodrive Performance Pack, Tinted rear windows, front Grille all as standard.. and theres only 100 of the wagon.. so hes not goin to see anyone else in one...

im not a fan of the saloon version, it doesnt look right with the alloys and rear prodrive wing.. but i think the wagon is great..

Imprezas are incredible value for money anyway.. the amount of car you get for your money has always been brilliant... ok so the hawkeye will be the old model by next year, but to be honest... who wants the new one???

I think the wagon looks amazing. If I had 23k to spend I would get one.

think the general opinion is that you could virtually build a gb270 spec car for a lot less than 23k, and even though the car would be worth less come resale (and might cost a bit more to insure) would it really be less than the original saving of over 3k?

I think they look good. Would not buy a new car anyway, but rekon they would be a good buy in two years time

I'd have the Wagon any day.

Love the look of it. Not sure on the saloon model? I think its the Prodrive spoiler? Not my bag but all down to personal preference.

Congratulate your Dad on a great choice, everyone knows that scooby limited editions fetch higher prices come resale time.
Love them both especially the badge

I ordered a GB270 wagon yesterday

Anyone want a March 05 Forester 2.5 XT (leather, sat nav, sunroof) plus PPP and 17" Prodrive alloys, in Obsidian black with pimp tints, going cheap at £12995 (48k miles)

I really like the look of the wagon too, I currently have a MY05 PPP Wagon and love it. In the current climate of WRX's for 16 - 17k the change-over figure needs to be really good before I would consider it.

Mind you (sounding like a hyprocrite), I paid 25k for a UK300 in 2001 and it doesn't have half the spec of the GB270.

I think I'm talking myself into it now!

Dave I thought you had moved to a VW?

Absolutely correct, I had an AmD tweaked 3 door R32 for about 18 months but inheriting a working labrador and elderly parents in law prompted a change to the flying wardrobe

Unfortunately as you found out if there was one Impreza limited edition that was poor value for money the UK300 is top of the list

I'm not going to defend the perceived value of the GB270 because it's a personal thing, but given that I want a factory warranty then you have to pay dealer prices for a UK car, and with the GB270 you basically pay for the wheels and tyres and a few other bits, and get the useful stuff like the PPP, suspension mods etc thrown in for nothing! Suits me

I own a classic wrx wagon to the mo oddly though when it comes to the new shape (Hawkeye is it?), which is my favourite one, I perfer the saloon.

and theres only 100 of the wagon
In urban grey, then they'll be a 100 in white, blue, red, etc

Which ever one you get will look better than mosts things on the road nowadays.

Except there won't, due to the fact production of the current car has now ceased, and the new one is on the production lines for launch on 25 August

I was very tempted to chop my Legacy in for the 270 Wagon, shame that 3 different dealers took my details, but then didn't bother to follow up on the deal.

They're obviously too busy selling the new shape Impreza to bother...

Good choice DTS, I think the wagon looks great, I don't really understand why this shape is being changed so quickly, i think it looks rather good in the flesh.

Dave,

When do you take delivery?

(bet the AMG R32 was good, I did reserve a R32 in 2002, but then the **** fell off my UK300 value so got a better deal for a STi)

I'm gonna speak to my dealer on Monday to see if he can temp me.

He was trying to get me to take a standard WRX Wagon the other week.

You won't be disappointed. Both the saloon and the wagon were at the Prodrive open day and in my opinion the wagon looked the best by far. As for value for money, if 100 people want the spend 23k on a car then its up to them which then proves Subaru marketing have got it right.

The dealer is talking first to second week of September delivery, but a certain contact at Prodrive was meeting the brand manager at Subaru yesterday and was going to find out more

The R32 was a good car, I really enjoyed it. It had an AmD remap (272bhp) and Milltek system with centre resonator removed - I tracked it twice at Goodwood and it sounded fabulous going past the pits

Wolfie
Fingers crossed!

From what I gather (pinch of salt), there's not as big a margin in the GB270 as with standard wrx's.

But the dealers won't want to / be allowed to knock a lot off limited editions I wouldn't think.

Could just be sales blab as there's limited numbers of these.
