Rear bumper removal

Rear bumper removal
My wife has bumped the car (bugeye) into my van believe it or not, and I've been quoted £750+ to fit a new bumper.
Given that I can buy a new one for £250, I reckon I could remove the old one and fit a painted up new one.
Question is, how do they come off and what other brackets might I need. (diagrams?)
Sorry I can't post up any pics - I don't know how to do it.
The damage is all in the side of the bumper at the bottom, just behind the rear wheel. Also the bumper has dropped a bit (not up snug below the rear lights and 3/4 panel - about 4/5mm. A bit of alignment required.
Any help would be really appreciated.
