You're in Afghanistan? So you must be forces, then? Whatever, have a care out there, guy.
The classic Impreza was available from 1992/3 in Japan, until 2000, and came to the UK officially in 1996 IIRC.
UK cars had less power, (205-18 bhp according to year, where the WRX was 240-60). The UK cars also lacked the folding mirrors, standard aircon and rear wash wipe of the Japanese (JDM) cars.
UK cars are Ins group 17 while the JDM cars are group 20.
The cars had a facelift around 1997, ( grille, headlights bonnet) with an interior makeover in 1998, (white dials, better seats, different dash layout and door cards) and a further minor facelift in 1999, (different bumper, grille againand crystal headlights/foglights), when they also got 4-pot brakes with SUBARU on them at the front. Previous cars had smaller discs and 2 pot brakes.
Wheels were 15" until 1998 on UK cars when they went to 16". Many classics now run on 17" or 18" wheels, 17" is supposed to be best for the car in terms of ride and handling, but people still go to 18's for the look Wheels larger than 16" are therefore aftermarket and vary in value. Subaru's own, Prodrive wheels, or WRX 01 onwards wheels are also used.
Here's a pic of my red 98 car with V6 STi spoiler, colour coding, front splitter, WRX 01 wheels and Brembo brakes with 325 mm discs.
