Which grade oil should be used and for how many miles?

(would have tried a search but.........)

when i had my type R built last week, i was told not to use "good quality oil" for the first 1000 miles because "abrasive oils" help it to bed in properly, and soften edges, then put good quality oil with additives in, you dont want it all "coated" when your activly trying to bed/wear in surfaces.

just my imput? what say you lot??

No expert but when I had my first service on my 06 wrx I was told the oil was no different.

Standard 10w40 semi synthetic, just dont go fully synthetic for the first 5k or so
