Jap Performance ran an article on this a few months back £ per bhp I think it was a Celica GT4 and a classic Impreza came second, I remember the scoob was a black and tuned by TSL.

For BHP per £ I'd say one that you haven't listed. The Supra Turbo.

I think it depends what state of tune you want.
If you want mega power then an RX7 would be cheapest
Whereas if you just want an extra 100bhp then a supra is easiest

Having owned 3 of them, i would say the pulsar. Remapped to 280, not much more to around 320-330.

Guess the classic impreza is not far behind that.

R5 & Starlet are not gonna be tuned that high, without costing mega-money. I firmly believe to get the best base model to start tuning, otherwise costs a wedge.

Some of them are old cars, so you should already be able to buy modded.

If i had to buy one on the list again, it would either be an Evo6 or Pulsar.

the relevant one is the fact that the Evo is easier to tune than the Scoob.

gotta be the cossie....in terms of cheapness and availability of parts, easy to work on.......

but overall it depends on what you wanna achieve and what you start with.....

Impreza is up there, and its even easier if you start with an STi!
