urgent info needed please
hi all, urgent info needed as i am buying my first scooby and its a fresh import. the car is a "p" reg 97
what i am not sure about is the paper work you should get, is it the same bit of the v5 as always?
when i looked at the car there was no v5 logbook because it had just come in to the country.he said the mot was getting done then he was sending the documents to d.v.l.a.
how long does it take roughly to get the logbook back from d.v.l.a.?
when i pick the car up what paper work should i receive?
please help because think i might be picking car up in next couple of days.
thanks mark

The car won't have any registration documents and therefore no registration number, and no tax. The MoT will have been sent off, so currently the car won't have any documentation with it.
Although you could drive the car before it is registered (you can insure it on the VIN number), it might be better to wait until the V5 turns up before picking the car up from the dealers - he could then also put some number plates on for you. I think the docs take a few weeks to come through - no point you paying insurance on a car that you can't really use!

THANKS for that fella,
He said it is now mot`ed and posted to d.v.l.a. with other docs .And he said he should get the tax disc and something else to say what the reg will be back in a few days ready for pick up friday.
Does this sound right?
THANKS AGAIN.

I think my documents took a few weeks to come back from the DVLA, but that was back in 2000 - things may have speeded up a bit since then!
He should have all the documentation back from the DVLA - MoT Cert, V5 and tax disc. Ensure the chasis number on the MoT cert matches the V5 and the car VIN plate.
As I said before, I would also see if he'll make up the plates for you - will save you the hassle of you doing this yourself.
Good luck!
