Smile Whats it worth? Your opinions required!!

Sorry to put up another 'whats it worth thread' - i have looked at countless others but im still a little bemused as to what to possibly sell my classic for?!

I've had her coming up to 9/10 months or so and loved every minute, just beginning to maybe think I fancy a change (still a scooby of course )...

So here we go, all opinions welcome on what shes worth...

- Late 1999 WRX Import (280 bhp standard)
- Steel grey colour
- 55k miles
- A folder full of service history / receipts etc
- 2nd owner from new (imported brand new to uk in sept 99 I believe)
- Full afterburner vortex decat exhaust system (sounds insane - original STi exhaust system in shed)
- VF29 turbo
- Simota panel filter
- Walbro 255 fuel pump
- STi 6 TMIC (inc. alloy Y-piece pipe + correct STi elbow pipe)
- HKS SSQV blow off valve
- Tek3 remap by Andy Forrest (safe map well within cars limits)
- + a few other bits and bobs
- STi 5 rear spoiler
- Aero splash guards (full set)
- P1 front splitter
- STi 5/6 fog light covers
- Full crystal light package
- Fully colour coded
- Lowered 40mm all round
- New pads / discs etc
- P1 17" OZ wheels (anthracite)
- New Toyo Proxes tyres all round
- Probably more but I cant think

A syou can see from the pics its truely in superb condition, immaculate body work, paint work is stunning, and so is the interior! It really is a credit to the 1st previous owner who from its history I can say has thrown a absolute stack of money at keeping this car tip top - Ive just tried my best to take it from standard to a slightly nippier, more complete car

As mentioned its had a full Tek3 remap by Andy Forrest who commented on how nice and rare it was. It was mapped well within the cars limits by Andy who did a simply marvellous job - his map transformed the car! Its now running circa 320-330bhp and is an absolute blast to drive... the VF29 spools very quick and pulls like a train! A very quick car indeed.

Heres a few pics, she really is in fantastic condition and has never been abused - another scoob owned by an Impreza enthausiast... this cars wanted for nothing

All comment / opinions welcome... I dont really know what to expect for it if I do decide to sell!!

Cheers ya'll
(ps. thanks to all those who took the above pics... I've borrowed them )

£4500?

Being an Import hits it - looks nice though

Selling it so quickly sends alarm bells too ...... whats wrong with it people will ask

The mods add nothing ... in this case they don't detract too much

pete, go away.

trust me you should get more than £4500 for something so well kept, with sensible modifications, and lots of history too.

pete is very bnp, doesnt like anything imported from outside these shores unless its his rent-a-bride subscription

Mine is a proper Impreza MY00 UK car

1 Owner and Service History

I would suggest that I would get about £5000 for mine?

This car is older - and an Import - with mods - it has also only been owned for 9 months ....................... what's the real reason for selling such a beloved vehicle?

I think £4500 is a fair price - he asked for ALL suggestions .... ask £4995 and be prepared to barter.

Unless, of course, mine is worth MORE than £5000???

Hehe its cool! all opinions welcome

Ya I know what you mean about selling so quick, but thats nothing to do with the car... thats just me The car truely is spot on, anyone who saw it at NBO or other shows Ive been to will vouch for that

Only reason im contemplating selling is Ive been thinking of going for 400+ and although I could do that no probs with this car, I just cant bring myself to tear such a clean car to pieces (fmic etc etc) to go for it... thats honestly the only reason im thinking of selling!

Thankyou both for the nice comments, mucho appreciated! Lots of work / money has been thrown at the car!

nope, because to some people (and your being ignorant by ignoring this important point), the mods make it worth more. say i bought the car for x-amount and spent x-amount to take it to said bhp, chances are it would cost me less to buy this example than the two seperate.

sti v5 and v6 cars go for a lot more than uk classics? whay because theyre more powerful standard, and with mods, more desirable.... well to people who use them.

i dare say your cars worth more than £5000, not due to the condition of it, but due to the imfamous owner... you could have thrashed it from cold from the first day you put your zimmer frame in the boot, but to the right person who wanted bragging rights of owning "pslewis'" car, a premuim is there to be made.

What do you want for it Terence?

You do know what figure you are looking for, whatever you say here

You bought it 9 months ago - what was that figure? That will be close unless you paid too much.

Not too sure about a figure at all!

My last scooby was a MY2000 UK turbo with full PPP but very high mileage etc and I let that go for 5k! But... this cars sooo much nicer / better in every dept than my last one, but as I say as for a estimate I have no idea

To most Mods lower 2 things:-

1. Price

2. Desirability

Though, I must say, the mods done seem pretty good on this example.

But, a 1 owner UN-MODIFIED car will ALWAYS be worth a premium over one that has been 'got at'.

They are the facts of life.

it's only worth what someone will pay and the market for fuel guzzlers is a bit slack at the moment.

You know what you paid for it - just a few months ago .................

And you DO know what you want for it - if I offered you £5500 you would snap my hand off, of course.

If I offered you £3500 you would keep it.

There is a middle range where you will settle .............. so, put us out of our misery, how much do you really want?? You are just advertising the car without putting it in the For sale section (we all know that)

Thanks for all the comments again ppl!!

PSLewis... honestly this isnt a 'gauging interest' thread or anything, just wondered what others opinions on what its worth would be! I wouldnt sell it for £5500, in *my* opinion i think its worth a bit more, not saying everyone would agree etc!

RIGHT - so now we get a bit nearer ........ you won't sell for £5500.

Would you sell for £6500?

I'm going to find what you want - then, we shall see if a buyer can match your expectations .................. we will have a deal on the table then

Sadly, if no-one wants to pay more than £5500 you appear to be keeping it.

But, as you are a lad from my neck of the woods - I will be helping you as much as I can

Terence, do you only ever park your car next to another Impreza?

I have to agree with PSLewis in as much as you should never assume modifications will increase the value of a car... BUT a car is worth what ever someone will pay for it and that scooby is gorgeous!

From doing a quick search on Autotrader, Impreza's circa 1997-2000 prices seem to be all over the place.
It might be a case of putting it up between 5 & 6k and seeing what happens.
As for mods adding value i'm not so sure. Mods are not always wanted by some and therefore reducing the number of potential purchasers. With a Subaru, which are not the easiest of cars to sell the bigger the audience the better. Plus mods can be a pain in the **** when it comes to insuring a car.
Nik.

Would say about 5k, its a lovely car though well subtle mods.

I had a 350bhp classic which i sold modded for £3500, cost me about 5k getting it there and some ****** broke it staight away, if i had of known i would have kept it.

Good luck

Nice looking car fella! Bit like my last one albeit that was a STi:

http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2005-9/1084300/sub2.JPG

Above STi (not modded) was a V Reg & I sold it for £12.5k back in Feb 2004. Only 3 years ago so IMHO no way is yours worth only £5k ... £7-8k?
