Default melted piston

just i quicki keep hearing about melting pistons causing engine failure can any one tell what causes this and how could you prevent this from happening

Keep it standard and properly serviced and it will be bulletproof.

best advice i have had. got no plans to mess with the engine at all

Not always the case.........if it`s an import get it mapped for sure...

If it runs lean the combustion temperature incraeses significantly which can melt a piston by temperature alone.

Alternatively detonation (pinking) will slowly damage the piston until its holed (caused by running lean, too advanced or by pulling oil over)

it is a import and not sure if its been remap

where is the best place to get it done nearer to peterborough the better

Get it mapped i would pal for our fuel..

Don`t know of anyone in that area, API in Leamington do all the work on mine, very good there great bunch, they use Pat and Bob to map ther cars, you won`t find many better...
