Default I'm Gutted!

So after nearly 15 years of having a clean licence i got done by a Gatso the other week and had a nice letter on my mat yesterday - 49 in a 40

The bad thing is that its a road i use everyday twice a day - was just cruising along having a chat with the Mrs and didnt even realise i was over 40. I feel like the chavvy people that you see on traffic cops and am genuinly gutted for myself as i am proud of my clean licence.

I guess it'll be 3 points and £60, but how will it affect my insurance - no doubt it'll go up?????

Still its not all bad - i do pick up my new STI PPP in 52ish hours..........

The impact on your insurance will be negligable. I had 6 points last year (now got 3) and sp30's don;t really affect your insurance to any great degree.

insurance companies take the view, that with so many cameras around these days, its inevitable that you will get done at some point, but they dont criminalise you for it and ramp up your premium......

I know how you feel mate, I managed 14 years proudly boasting a clean licence, then got 6 point in a year lol.
Hardly affected my insurance at all though

Congratulations, you are now a statistic.

Oh you naughty boy,

You obviously shouldn't be driving an STI, so I suggest that you give it to me!

Welcome to the real world of points mean prizes in this case points for you mean a £60 prize for them. Take it on the chin and don't worry. Enjoy your new car.

Got done last week
Bought a speed camera / laser detector after that then went to tell me the exact spot the mobile van would have been, kinda like locking the door after the horse bolted.

Get yourself a road angel 2, I bought one on ebay for £60.00 6 weeks ago it has saved me a few times so it's paid for itself already. hope you enjoy the new motor. regards, Dan.

Tell the Mrs to shut-up or walk. You need to concentrate man! (on how good your new motor is! )

Glad to see someone not whinging about getting flashed! You do the crime, you do the time, in this case £60.00 and 3 points. Never mind mate, 3 years and you'll be clean again (I think?)

Our insurance went up nearly £500 per year when wife got 3 points for 36mph in 30 limit. Fact she was only 21 at time driving STI PPP may have had some bearing on increase but overall to date this has cost us nearly £1000 in additional premiums. Suppose Govt will be happy as they get the £60 fine plus that sly tax on your insurance premiums!!

So not only were you speeding you were also driving without due care and attention ?
