They are recycled oils, with way too much detergent for older vehicles and its well known they dont hold within the specifications of their viscosity very well.. Magnatec being one of the worst offenders.

Do a search...................stacks of people asked this question before with plenty of different opinions. Motul 300V, Mobil 1 not the non motorsport version as its too thin, Silkolene, Millers. Have a read and make your own mind up. Try Alyn @ AS Performance for advice and supplies if you need any further info.

As for which oil is teh bestto use...depends on which year car, later cars use thinner oil and have longer drain intervals, whilst older Classics use thicker oil and 6month/7.5K miles changes.
Also need to factor in driving styles, general usage (long trips vs short journeys) and engine modifications that may cause higher operating temperatures.
Or you could just sod it and dump in a good quality 10w-40

We weren't, but you have to admit, the number of new 'which oil' threads is getting ridiculous. It makes it even harder when you want to search for a definitive answer.
And if people can log on to the internet, find scoobynet, sign up and activate their account, then they CAN use the search function!

which oil is used depends on what you use the car for.
As PS lewis quite rightly said, the mfr recommend a certain oil (on my newage it is 10/40) but if you are using it for other than std use there may be a need to change the type you use.
We have not been given that info here.
Therefore assume that the std 10/40 semi syth is the best stuff.
I dont use that cos my baby goes on track and needs an oil designed to run hotter but it would be a complete waste of time (and money) running that in a tesco shooping cart.

You spend £50 on 5 litres of super duper rallyX fully synthetic magical oil if you like ..... just do not state that anything cheaper is poor quality - it isn't! It's just that you are paying a premium and thats your choice.
