ppp is it worth it?
ive recently bought an 06 2.5 sti, its my first subaru and want to keep the warantee intact so was thinking of having a prodrive pack fitted but on looking at the spec sheets the only real gains are in 6th gear. has anyone had there car fitted with the pack after owning it standard for a bit as i just want to know if its worth the money or worth spending elsewhere on the car cheers

The first reasonable question on here in quite a while and everyone ignores it. They are all too busy talking about how many mpg they get or racing Focus ST's
Sorry I don't have the answer as when I had mine I went a different route. At the time though ppp was a reasonable upgrade and the only one that kept warranty intact and actually increased the value of the car when it came to resale time.

Not strictly true if you believe the official figures.
Check out the RB320 (which has the PPP as standard) consumption figures compared with the STi and you will see improvements in the Urban and Combined figures with the PPP fitted.
In reality, it will depend on how you drive it as you will require less throttle opening for a given power.

I have to say that the engine feels very torquey.
The main reason I had mine done was to try to maintain the performance I had from my WRX Classic.
If you get it done, let's have your impressions.

Hallsy67, i'm in the same boat, do I or dont I. It seems nobody yet has had an STi for a while and then put ppp on!. I'm going to try to get my local dealer to let me out in one, but they never seem to have them either.

I got a spec d and had ppp fitted at 10000 miles.
2.5 engine is quite torquey and the ppp improves this characteristic.
Makes overtaking a pleasure.
As for fuel consumption- double edged sword comes to mind. Driven the same way it will improve, but I find the right foot rides a bit heavier when it gets the result over a wider rev range.
The one thing I would add, is that it is less frequently taken to the red line, as there is always plenty on demand after short changing the gear.

oh well spoke to my local subaru dealer today and because my car was pdi'd in cyprus but is uk registered its not a type uk so will not be under w/tee with a prodrive pack so i either leave it standard to keep a european w/tee or say stuff it and go and get it remapped elsewhere
