Its a tough one to call. My guess its 20-20.5k. Look at most dealers and they have them up at £23.5k with PPP. My old UK300 is on the forecourt for £26,500

The new STI prices have hurt the UK300, but then I think they have affected all prices. It would be interesting to see what P1 owners get their car underwritten for Jan/Feb at. Assuming a 3k mark up for any car in this bracket, getting over 21k would seem good for them. The new WRX can be bought for under 20k new as well. Please all thank Listers for bringing us good UK dealer prices. Add PPP and 18" wheels, and for 23k you have a 2002 model year car on your drive brand new.

Not a good time to be selling a 6 month to year old WRX, but a good time to buy.

Why are people selling their UK300's? Is it because you are disappointed with them?

interesting...dealer has offered me £21k so I'm taking it.

Love the car but am changing jobs.

Interesting when you look in the mirror after taking off at the lights....every car seems to disappear!

Cool

Except, of course, the MY2000 Standard UK model Wagon that is right beside you!! The MY 2000 does it without looking like a Corolla however!! ha ha

When will you lot learn that adding all the mods in the world will make it LESS valuable come re-sale time??

The VERY same dealers that sold you that £1000 thingamyjig that makes it go 2mph faster, that £1699 whatsit that makes it able to go around right-angles at 80mph (instead of the standard 79mph!!) and the £599 Widget that lights up the next 6 miles of road instead of the really important naext 300 Yards. THEY are the ones saying, 'hmmm, not sure about those mods, sir, you should have kept it standard' so we will give you 9p for it!!!

Good point Pete.

Every since owing my MY99 (3 months today) people having been asking me when am I going to get the mods done.

I've thought about exhaust's and filters, but my cars got 215BHP as it is.

Do I really want to fork out £300 for a back box and £150 for a K&N just to see my insurance go up, and my trade in value go down?

You do the math.

Pete,

Must admit thats a good point, the MY2000 I have is rapid as many of you know and for my use of the car I wouldnt need it any quicker. I realise for people who go on track days then fair do's.

However, engine mods would defo put me off buying a car as to me it says " I thrashed it and it wasnt quick enough, so I tweaked it and thrashed in some more" I prefer standard always, new wheels cant do any harm though.

Cool

The question is: Would you buy a modified car in preference to a standard one? The extent of the mods and the impact on manufacturuers warranties & insurance costs appears to be key.

IMHO less is more.

"math" think u been watching too many yank sit coms. In any case, back boxes and air filters can be sold on again, especially desirable items like a ss back box. The main reason for changing these items IMHO is for noise not for any increased performance as gains would be minimal. Without at least the backbox i hate the quietness of imprezas, drive an impreza with at least the scoobysport backbox and youll forget the "math" and insist on purchasing one.

Question

You dont think it says to everyone, 'Look at me I am a complete and utter 4rse?' OR 'I can make a big, big noise wooohooo!' OR 'Watch where I park my car so you can nick it!'

Dont you think thats what everyone thinks as you drive by?? What do YOU think when a NOVA boy comes past with boombox and big exhaust? EXACTLY ....................... and thats what you look like, only you are doing it in a more expensive and much better car! ................. its the ONLY difference!!

Maybe you are just compensating for something???????

To be honest when I see a standard impreza go past I think, that guy/girl just doesnt get it or hasnt been introduced to the owning experience , or maybe is driving back from the garage after picking it up.

Funnily enough its the non modified ones which dont seem to wave as well . Anyway nothing wrong with a few tasteful mods, like a nice set of gold wheels, 18's of course and residuals I have stopped worrying .

Noise thing? You could drill a hole in the standard back box and get the same level of noise as a SS box ;-)

With previous cars I've owned, I've modified them. Suspension, exhaust's, filters, hoses, fuel injectors etc etc etc. I declared all these to my insurance company and guess what .... my insurance went up, and when I came to trade in the car in no f**ker wanted it!

I know that modifying a 'Scoob' is different. It's a beast of car to start with, and I know you can get some tasty results from some quality modifying. e.g PPP

My simple point is ... it cost's you more in the long run when making mods. If you can afford the mods, insurance costs and possible loss on a trade in, then good luck to you.

I would agree with you on one point. The back box. I'd change mine because I think the standard box looks sh*te. A nice oval pipe would be luuvverly .... oh f**k, sounds like I'll be eating my words sooner than I thought!

J.

Mod your car as you wish, but return it to standard spec and sell the car and the parts seperately.

There are very few aftermarket (or even OEM) options which add value - in fact they usually make them more difficult to sell.

Cheers,

A.

Jason

not sure if you have sold yours yet, but I was told one was on a
certain forcourt for an astonishing price (by a terzo owner looking for a newer model). Checked it out myself
today, 26995 for a 6-8 month old UK300 6K miles (they quote 25.995 via subaru UK site), but thats not the price on the car. As an interested owner, I asked the salesman how come it was so high, his argument was that it was prodrived, pointed out mine brand new was 26.5 with the PPP pack option, so whats the real story,
and what would they really give me against a brand new STI. Dumb *** looks and told to come back later.

Begs the question, does Subaru understand its own market, and why are they selling UK300s secondhand for more than the brand new STI, which I was quoted 25K for. If someone can answer this and the meaning and life, then its not a bad start to the year, no wonder its hard to put a price against something ourselves.

Cheers

Jim

That would be my old steed. Its the number plate S300 UK that I put on it that makes it more valuable , as well as me as the first registered owner
