they've ruined the car...
it not longer has the same character as the previous imprezas
and when you compare it to the new EVO..
i think that says it all... and i have always prefered subarus over evos..

i say wait a year and see how the new engines take to mods, the new evo no longer has a 4g63 and the impreza is now based off the legacy motor (atleast in the US)

Perhaps "The Prince just kissed..........." LOL
3 things
1)your looking at the Evo concept not the actual base Evo and comparing it against the base spec actual Subaru
2) the WRX has always been bottom Spec, so wait for the STi
3) That Picture of the Evo looks gorgeous but I saw the Video of Evo X and sorry I was very dissappointed looked C4rp.
It maybe the case the ugly ducking might out shine the Swan

To be fair, I am actually warming to it very slightly!!
Remember the Sierra when it replaced the Cortina? (for us oldies) i hated it but give me a Cossie RS500 any day now!!
Im sure the STi will be a nice motor when its launched.
I am somewhat concerned that Subaru are actually saying that the styling is there to apeal to a wider main stream punter???
i dont get it, what punter main stream who normaly buys a Golf or Focus etc is going to buy a 2.5ltr motor and the running costs of a Subaru?
Unless of course by main stream they mean GTi and ST wallers but they are hardly main stream punters are they? and I would think the % of people who buy those are as small a % as us who brought Imprezas, am i missing something here?

I don't like the large unpainted area of plastic on the front end of the EVO. That could of course be sorted by someone at a paint shop
I don't like the.....well its the whole thing when it comes to the Impreza. Maybe some spoilers will sort it on the STI, time will tell.

alci5 *** me this is old. do a search. where have you been???
Ignoring idiots with attitude like yourself.
As a noob to these forums i am not familiar with searches so i must be stupid.....I don't think so.
If this is an old search, then why do you criticise.....you added no comment to the post
My last car was a Nissan 200sx Drift spec jap import and still have it tucked up in my garage...thats where i've been, but wanted another car.....and now have it.....OK
PS I'm normally a nice guy, but sometimes people really can be annoying

am i missing something here? isnt there still gonna be a saloon impreza like we all drive now? ie this new shape is an add on, new car not a replacement? so the saloon version will be the one that is more comparable to what we have now and this new 'thing' is something different?

one thing that gets me everytime i see it is the moulded in scoop. looks like a some other crappy cars/people carriers you see around with an air intake.
and i have to say the saloon (sedan) looks better than the hatch in my eyes. that yellow one above looks damn tidy.

Problem is, they are in hatchback territory now. The affordable perfomance saloon market was niche, performance hatchbacks are ten a penny. It's going to have to be a stunningly good car to succeed, because I would say on the evidence of this forum (myself included) they have lost 50-60%, possibly more, of thier loyal following with this new direction.
Can you really see them taking sales from Volkswagon, Audi, Alfa, Ford, Vauxhall, Honda, BMW, Seat, Fiat, Peugeot, Renault... and so on and so on and so on.

The impreza saloon as we know it is dead and gone.

Its growing on me also, I wouldnt have the WRX looking as it does (dont like the present shape on either) but the pics of the STi look nice even in its 5 door version but ill have to wait until I see it in the flesh I think.

Peter your absolutely right, sorry not picking on you It's going to have to perform and look the dogs ******** and not Dogs dinner.
In the early years The UK probably bought more Subarus than AUS and USA put together so UK had a bit of clout . But now I very much doubt if UK sales were even 20% of the USA sales. So you can see where styling trends are aimed at and who has the Clout now
That could be Subaru's biggest challange the ten a penny brigade Don't need to
A) be over 25 and have group 20 insurance
B) Pay £29,995 for their Cars
Only if the WRX is good enough to compete in Price, Perfromance, Insurance and Looks (forget looks)
IMHO
