Question

Basic - probably get asked this all the time but...

Am looking to buy a 2nd hand UK Scooby - wanna spend about 8k so a lot of examples are High-Milers so what should I look out for?? - VERY worried out the Turbo going - are they fairly reliable?

Cheers folks- it all helps!!!

Hi Flinty

Welcome to Scoobynet!
Sorry, can't help you much with what to look for - just thought you deserved a reply to your first thread!

The usual things apply of course - service history, use of correct oil, look for obvious signs that the car has been well cared for etc, etc

Try using the search facilities on this BBS for more info.

Rich

Oh yeah, and check out

I wouldn't worry about the turbo going as much as the gearbox. Turbos are relatively cheap compared to boxes and labour would not be too much compared to fixing a 'box

I paid 9 1/2k for my MY94 seven months ago. When I got it that had done 50k miles and was absolutely mint. I wouldn't worry about it to be honest, as long as it has been looked after.

I live in reading also and have owned my scooby for a year now, done 16,000 trouble free miles only thing that has been replaced are tyres. If I can be of assistance mail me off line I am no scooby expert but know a couple of things to look out for.

Cam belt should be changed every 45K.

If unsure get it changed as soon as, better over safe than not engine.

Barge.

Barge,

You're right . Had mine changed at 90k and forgot that the previous owner had changed at 45k as well...

Cheers

Thumbs up

Flinty

Welcome to the board. Sorry can't really help with your question, but as Rich says, use the search, you'll probably find out most of what you need.

Mark - CAN YOU TAKE THE CAPS LOCK OFF? No need to shout
