Default scoobs in the rain?!

does everyones (classic) scooby suck in the rain or is it just mine? i thought 'the wetter the better' meant it would be awesome.

In the dry it's great and can take corners much faster than i have the bottle to do, but get some water on the road and it spins out all over the place, wiped out a gooden today at normal speeds. Wondering if i have dry weather tyres or something but it doesn't say anything on them.

depends on the surface, the island near my house i've had the **** end out at 15mph before in the rain, and not a week goes by without the fence or signs etc neding to be rebuilt cos someones crashed into them. other island then 60 is the **** end out point lol
realy depends onm the road surface etc.

if its all the time might need to get the tracking or geometry setup checked.

probably cheap crap they cover the roads in. It seems just in the wet though. The car has different tread profiles front and back, i weren't too sure if they should be the same being AWD

The tyres are pretty new. It has Yokohama's on the back which have quite a fine detailed tread and another brand which i can't think of right now on the front which has a really deep wide tread with deep V shapes in.

Most yoko performance tyres are far more suited to dry conditions. On both toyo's and F1's, I always found my sti and uk turbo to be very well balanced in the rain.

Tyres are most likely to blame. My Classic on F1s is fantastic in the wet!

Different trad patterns front and rear not really a good idea mate. Get some F1s all round. Problem sorted!

Agreed got shot of my RE070's on the weekend for F1's whilst there is a trade off in dry conditions, in the wet its night and day at normal speeds IMO

Er, no!

My old MY99 used to handle a great in the wet, it was predictable when drifted around roundabouts and great around bends.

As long as the roads where not greasy, which they have been around here all weekend.

Good tyres help, mine was at its best on Goodyear GS-D3's probalbly the best all round tyre i have ever used, great in the dry, not the best but in the rain came into its own, could almost drive the car as hard in the wet as the dry as long as the surface was not greasy and taking into account other road users (so the PC hang 'em and flog 'em bridgae do not jump on this).

F1s ,in the wet, uprated rear droplinks and some ***** and my classic (93wrx) is fantastic.
Went out yesterday when it was pi**ing down with rain (Dorset) and it was excellent fun (safe keeping to the speed limit fun).

You need the same tread pattern on all four corners really.

I'd get 4 tyres the same on then a 4 wheel tracking done. You should notice a good difference after this especially if you use a good tyre like people have suggested here. I've got a MY00 T2000 and when I bought that it had a different tyre on eack corner and in the wet it was not a nice car to drive. Changed over to 4 Toyo T1R's and now it's amazing both in the wet and dry.

If those Yokos aren't Parada2 then it won't be any good in the wet, as they are the only model made by Yokohama that I've encountered that work in wet conditions.

Ive got 4 Yoko S306 tyres on the wagon at the moment and it handles great in the rain. Still to get a bit of under/oversteer with them....

Hangings too good for you Paul!!!

Agree though, they are great in the wet and, providing you're not silly, you can still press on without fear of getting bitten.

I've got 306's on my classic saloon and was frightened by how poor they are in the wet. I've always run 539's on my previous cars (VW's) and fond them to be ace in the wet but they don't do them to fit standard scoobs.

F1's it will be for me I think.

I had an STI 1 and nearly swapped ends in the rain a few times with the crap avons I had on it. After I fitted F1's I couldn't beleive the difference. Go and get a set m8 much cheaper than smacking your pride and joy

Did you buy the tyres or is it an import that arrived with "good tyres" on?

If they are jap spec they are likely to be almost plastic. Get some decent rubber on there!

The Yokos i got on my import were excellent except they were very soft and didn't last long on our lovely 'smooth' roads

I've just put on 4 Federal SS595's and so far for the cheapish price they're proving to be very good. Ran Toy's before.

The Falken's i got on mine were almost dangerous! sideways at roundabouts if it even looked like raining and that was gentle driving!

I guess it's the crappy road surface over here compared to theirs.
None of the roads in Tokyo had any water retention on the surface unlike ours (especially over the weekend) so i guess their tyres are designed for their surfaces rather then ours (which would surprise me).
