Default TYRES!!???

Hi all, new to the site and a new owner of a subaru impreza looking for some help!

I have 17" Prodrive wheels, came on the car with **** tyres!
Can I use 205/40/17 rubber? and does anyone have any pics of their car with these size tyres on?

Or do i go with 205/45/17, it currently has 50 on it at the mo and know this cant be right! Please help.

Thanks
Shaz

Falkens have served me very well indeed - good value and very good wear!!

I get 2 years and 23,000miles out of mine!

view my scooby<<<

bought my car in dec last year and had pirelli 205/45/27s on. good in the dry, not so in the wet.

asked on here for opinions, and decided to go with toyo proxes t1-r tyres. 215/40/17, and they fill out the arches well enough for a 17" alloy. excellent in the dry, very good in the wet too.

tyre walls are roughly the same, but the toyos have a much more visually curved wall, whereas the pirellis were much more angled, something i didnt like, and that extra 10mm makes a difference on the width.

Falkens are £62 a corner including VAT, balance, valve and fitting - granted, if they were crap price doesn't matter - but they are amazingly good!!

Toyo and F1s ususally get the best reviews on here.

Performance wise - Another vote for F1s from me. However there have been a few reliabilty issues with them. Never affected me -but others have had a few probs.

Depends what car you have.
A newage needs 215/45/17. Classics were fitted with 205/45/17 but most people tend to fit 215/40/17 as they are cheaper.
I've had 3 sets of Toyo T1S's and really rate them. I'm now on Toyo T1R's and like them even more. I used to get about 14k from the S's and on my first set of R's i'm over 20k with plenty of tread to spare. I don't drive like a ****, but i don't hang about either

I'd go for TOYOS. Get 60k a set on my company mondeo , and 20k a set on my SVX out of them . Never had a blow out or puncture.

Seconded.

Haggle HARD on prices though, Paradas are bargains; as long as the tyre seller doesn't charge retail...pay more than £80inc VAT fitted/all in each and your paying too much.
