Go back to the listing and see if you are covered by the paypal policy.

On the right hand side of the screen there are 2 sections. Meet the seller and Buying safely.

The should be a P and a shield with a tick inside it and to the right of that it should say free coverage upto £500.

If it doesnt have the £500 buyer protection then you wont get your money back unless he has the funds in his paypal account to cover what your owed.

Paypal will only give you somthing like £14 which is all i got when i was scammed. Because process takes so long the scammer has plenty of time to withdraw the funds and there is nothing in their account to give you back.

Obviously you will only get your claim granted if paypal accepts youve been done over. I.e he doesnt respond to the claim within 14 days

Its worth pointing out that if that scammer recieves money into their paypal account in the future then it immediatly gets pulled out and transfered to you. I sent a lovely email to my scammer when i recieved in full the money i was owed... he sent a nice reply to me as well, he was well pissed off.

Have you opened the ECU to check the board inside. Open it up, three screws either side, they will be tight as they are threadlocked. Once open remove the Circuit Board and check the soldered connections. It should be quite easy to see if there has been any damage. If it looks good then give it a try, if there is any hidden damage I doubt the car will start at all.

a tad presumptious of you to assume it doesnt work, maybe the guy smoked alot in his house or summut ?

you need to test it 110% before you spout off its fooked !

I'd get it repaired AND claim your money back..

How bad is the damage to it, perhaps you could repair it yourself, test it, then flog it. Use it to your advantage..

Ebay and paypal can be a pain in the **** when things go wrong. I got scammed before Christmas by a guy selling a camera - he didn't send it and I claimed my money back from Paypal, although they charged me £15 to do so though. I then contacted my Credit Card told them the story and that they had to pay the £15 - which they did
