Question MOT question, help needed!

I've left it a bit late but I've got an MOT test tomorrow and since I changed to 18" wheels I've done nothing about swapping the space saver spare for one that's the right size. I've been told you don't have to have a spare wheel to pass the MOT (only that if you do have one it must be the right size and have legal tread) is this right?

Cheers

Matt

If you have the right profile tyres on the 18s, the space saver spare should still be the right size I'd have thought...

Best thing to do would be pop it out of the boot and stand it beside one of the wheels and see what the height difference is between them...

My original space saver passed OK (if they checked it) with 18 inch Prodrives on. Nothing to worry about.

No spare required. My 206GTi 180 had 2 cans of tyre weld (no spare at all!) from brand new. passed its MoT with no problems.

you are right, you dont need a spare to pass mot, however the tester can advise that the spare is missing. if the car was presented with a space saver on it would fail because you have to have a matching pair on the same axle, but if you put another space saver on the other side, then it would probably pass !! now the best bit, if a traffic officer was to stop you and asked to see your spare and you didn't have one then he could do you !!
