If it slips when you are trying to launch (I bet you had that as lunch a few mins ago ) then you should get it looked at.

The fact that it slips when you put pressure on the pedal is not necessarily something to worry about as the bite point may just need adjusting (I assume you can do this on Imprezas)

The "bite" point may be a issue however after you engage first gear and the engine revs do not match the accleration ie. engine gets louder but you do not speed up accordingly it is very likely to be the clutch plate or bearings.
Also when say in fourth gear you declerate and drop down to 3rd there is a time lapse before it oicks up this is another indication either way if it is a knackered clutch you will know within the next couple of weeks for sure!!

Best way to test a worn clutch is find a big hill. Stick it in a highish gear (making the engine labour) and put the foot to the floor, if the revs rise and the speed doesnt increase its the clutch. If not then its not slipping (badly).

May be your riding the clutch when your foots resting, maybe needs adjusted?

Sounds like your clutch is on the way out, I'm experiencing similar symptoms with my clutch.
