05 STI Remap
Thinking of getting a remap on my 05 sti type uk been looking at the TSL remap as im form the derby area! The car has a PPP on already and i have fitted a cotton green panel filter and TSL center section and magnex silencer so pretty much the PPP to 333 pack just needing the remap! My only worry is if the improvements will be worth the £650 for the remap????????
Or if theres a better place to to use for a remap????????
Cheers sye

my my05 sti is being mapped this sat by powerstation so will post up the results.
mods:
2.75" milltek exhaust from d.pipe
prodrive downpipe
walbro pump
3 port boost solinoid
ported headers
k&n panel filter.
guess the final figure and closest wins a special prize

Bit of a trek but Mocom Racing have been getting some good results in Essex, good price too.

To answer the question "is it worth doing the remap" the answer is very much yes. I had my 03STi PPP remapped at Scoobyclinic by Pat and the difference is huge: lighter feel , crisper, and far more urgent.

Scooby.dlm, I just had a K&N panel filter stuck in before the remap. They didn't suggest I should have any sort of induction kit. On the other hand they said the std middle exhaust and PPP rear box would reduce the results a bit so I had that changed to SC 3" middle and rear box. I suppose it just depends on how far you want to go. I ended up with 328/300 which I thought the torque was a little disappointing and Adam said that was because I insisted in keeping the PPP sports cat. On the road it is ballistic and if they'd told me it was 350/350 I'd have no reason to disbelieve. Don't worry about the numbers its the way it drives that matters. Had track driving lessons at Elvington two weeks ago and it was fantastic, mind you if you do that you only get 5 mpg.

Elvington track day.
Event £119 Javelin
Petrol £50 5mpg V Power for 60 miles on track
Tyres £480 probably wreck a set - very abrasive track
Brakes £600 new discs and pads for AP 6 pots (probably exaggerating wear here but had signs of overheating when I had "lessons" here)
Insurance £nil (premiums £10/£1000 insured with£1800 excess so I'm taking a chance)
Does this worry you enough?
Cheers, Diccy.

Car was originally PPP'd and did a peaky 300/285 on the rollers (with the SC exhaust fitted). The after figures were 328/300 but with a much flatter curve and the difference on the road was on another planet.
Cost was £550 TEK3 licence, £100 for roller time, £320 for middle and rear exhaust. All plus VAT. Remember I already had the sports cat from the PPP which I kept.
Also had to shell out £150 for Walbro 255 fuel pump as the stealer that fitted my PPP either didn't change the pump for the PPP or as they claim Subaru (UK) supplied them with the wrong one. Had to sue them to get this back.

I remember the thread about you suing subaru! Well done, I have been through the small claims court and won by default, as the defendent did not submit a defence, but got nowhere as the company want awol and a warrant could not be served by the baliff.
If I was to do the remap, I would probably retain the ppp equipment, even though it will be restrictive. I read on here that the ppp figures are usually down on the 300/299 claimed so anything aroung 320/300 would be great. I am not one for chasing figures but I am trying to get an idea as to what benefit the £650 would provide. Does anyone think this would be achievable?
I have been to Powerstation before and the service was excellent so I would definately go back there to have it done.

Doubt if the PPP exhaust would cost anything significant, it was just Adam at SC being persuasive over the SC exhaust, sounds nice - bit crisper than PPP BB.
Don't hesitate to remap, the difference is huge. As I've said before the headline figures aren't important its the difference in the way the car drives. PLEASE get the fuel pump checked just in case.
Only downside is that you need a permanent diet of V-Power.

And I thought the fuel economy could'nt get any worse! Although this does'nt bother me (I don't do too many miles) did you notice a difference after the remap?
I already have the PPP btw and I want to keep it as is - just get a remap.

Remap IMPROVED fuel consumption as the AFR is a bit leaner.
Std before PPP about 23 mpg
PPP about 24-25 mpg
Remap about 25-27 mpg better when weather is warm.
Track 5 mpg
All Optimax/V Power.
Remap on its own will be fine just get the fuel pump checked (I sound like a stuck record, but its not unlikely that this could be wrong).

just as an add to the comment about always using vpower...I had my 05sti converted to tsl333 and mapped it on esso 97 super, it absolutly rocks no problem at all and had it for about a year now, regularly serviced obviously and looked after, unless you want to push the car to its limit I really dont think you need to worry about using vpower, obviously if the shell is round the corner and you can fill up with it regularly go for it but it is not essential, unless you are going well above 340bhp of course, it is still pulling around 335bhp so very happy, vpower may give a few more horses and be kinder to the engine but tsl didnt map it that high purely for that reason to protect the engine they took the iginition timing down a few..brilliant result for me love the car and i can find an esso anywhere.. just my 2 pence.

obviously every place has their own opinion on exhausts and will try to sell you any of their own kit, but is the PPP exhaust really restrictive?
from what i've read, the PPP cat downpipe is one of the best out there and has very marginal loses over a decat, certainly if you're sticking to 2.5" i can't see other downpipes giving a noticeable increase?
the other pipes are straight thru pipes, so marginal difference there (if you change the resonated pipe that is) and a b/box again will be marginal difference. if you like the sound of the PPP exhaust, personally i wouldn't bother changing it
i'd love to see figures to prove wrong, but the best flowing 2.5" exhaust would give you what, max 10bhp/torque over the PPP? and that would probably give you a headache come MOT time
and to echo allyj's comments, unless you're wringing every last bhp out of the car, i can't see the point in restricting yourself to v-power either. my old classic was mapped to optimax and TBH that was getting a pain in the **** planning trips around shell garages towards the end!!
you'll get a transformed car with a remap, even if you go conservative with the map
