which exhaust? opinions please
in the very near future im looking for a new stainless exhaust for my v4 sti. I think im only going for a cat back system as i dont want it too loud and there are a lot of vosa people about alately. Ive been looking at either a ninja system, or a scoobyclinic cat back system, or even a magnex but i dont want it to be stupid loud just a nice burble. I was liking the look of a hks i heard at mfn last night but cant find where they are sold and a price. What are the differences between resonated and de-resonated centre sections? and what are the bore sizes on each exhaust? And if anyone has any pics and sound clips, ive heard the ones on scoobyworlds website. Any info would be great, thanx

Ninja's a good choice, nice burble and not to bad on motorway driving
The magnex ovals are quite popular to and dont sound to back
The best bet is to go to a local meet and here different exhausts and then choose
Myself i went for a Nur spec as i like mine loud and after hearing a few at meets i knew i had to have one

H&S 3" backbox. That's what I opted for when my original one died. It looks neat, burbles well, sounds ace when you give it some stick, yet is quiet(ish) on the motorway for long runs.

Another vote for the Ninja. Excellent roar when de-catted and on WOT.
Whilst the revolution one gave good gains and was quiet, build quality is poor.
Just gone the custom route, recommended. You can define noise required and style of exit and tailpipe.

I have a v4 sti like you. I have a decat downpipe, original (resonated) centre and a scoobysport backbox. It's just right in my opinion - not overly loud in general, relatively quiet at cruise and has an awesome note when on the gas. This is the only video I have and it's from incar but it gives you an idea (and you can drool over the Cobra, if you like those kind of cars) YouTube - AC Cobra vs Impreza STi v4 April 07

thanks for all the info, has anyone got a soundclip of the blitz nur spec? also could you put a bung in the nur spec? i never thought of attending a local meet, will look into that and get to one, and i may pop up to scoobyclinic to see if they have any exhausts on any cars that i could listen to, also where abouts did you people with ninja exhausts get them from, the favourite so far is the ninja or scoobyclinic as there only down the road from me and have done the bits of work that ive had done and are pretty good

its down to the afterburner or the ninja now, they both sound really well, is the afterburner a slash cut backbox? and i think that you can get it to come out straight rather than an angle? thanx again for the info, keep it commin

I'm in the same position mate, I'm considering a Ninja II backbox and straight through centre from Scoobyworld... I also like the idea that it comes with a bung, because I know from experience that something like a Blitz NUR Spec R gets a bit irritating on longer drives without its bung fitted.
