Apparently, the UK will only get the hatchback, there are no plans to bring the saloon over here.

Everything I've seen says the saloon is USDM only At least the Saloon looks a bit like an Impreza if you squint...

If this is true,I cannot beleive how short sighted they are
The saloon still doesn't look right but it's 100 times better than the hatch
Methinks we'll be seeing a lot more Evos on the roads in the near future and hell mend Subaru when their sales figures go through the floor....talk about biting the hand that feeds you!!

I'm going to wait until the sti version is released before deciding. I mean, honestly, who thinks a standard impreza without spoilers or scoops looks good? The classic looks crap in standard form but look how many people like it now. Even the bug and blob are uninspiring in standard trim. It is the aggressiveness of the styling that make these cars, not the design of what is underneath.

It has potential, with a new front and rear bumper, grill and spoiler it might actually look decent.

They might end up changing the front end. Have you seen a standard lancer? Utter crap compared to the evos.

remember that what we have seen so far is for the US market where tastes are little different. expect to see lots of changes for the european market and as others have said lets see what the performance models look like in reality next year

having said that they haven't got off to a flyer, i shan't be rushing out to replace my blob

Om my god....What a w**k looking car..

BOOOO SUBARU...

The hatchback version looks like a focus/mazda hybrid just ****ter, with a hole just stamped out of the bonnet...

And the saloon looks like a Hyundai on the rear end...

I think Subaru have reached the end of an era...

I think people will move on to another brand than buy that thing...

USDM is an oxymoron; why do people continue to perpetuate this nonsense? Is it because they all repeat, like sheep, something that they do not understand?

Subaru are a Japanese company/brand so their only possible domestic market is their home market: hence the term Japanese domestic market. They can not have a European nor a United States domestic market, Japan is their domestic market... Think about it and then stop repeating things that you dont really understand.

Ignorance is Strength!

C'mon, it's shorthand for 'cars intended for the US market'. The D is just a hangover from JDM and is there because that's the way the english language works by building on previous word constructs. It's simple, quick, and everyone understands it. What's not to love

Plus, in the world of globalisation, where is the domestic market? Where the corporate HQ is? Where the car was built? Where sales are greatest? Where the majority shareholder is based?

And in the spirit of the thread: looks like the UK maybe won't be getting the WRX, never mind the sedan.

You lot are quick to judge! Check out these beauties......

Everyone of them is a piece of **** but you know what they turned into. How is the new one any worse? If any of these were released now without a wrx/sti version you'd have a fit.

Until the sti is out you cannot say what it will look like.

Yup, spot on with those comments.

The standard version cars have never looked good imo. Its all about what the performance models look like. Time will tell, but so much so for a grand launch. The whole point of a launch is to make people want to buy your product....

Oh well, they are Japanese, what can we expect

So true none of them are an oil painting, yet for some reason give it a spoiler, big wheels, body kit and a big bonnet scoop and owners seem to drool over them baffles the hell out of me why

Because Minitrues post was aimed at me, and the pompus, know-it-all-tone has really irked me..

Domestic Market: domestic market - all trade mechanisms within one country, excluding exports and imports.

Now, as the 'Sedan' is only going to be for sale in the US, it is reasonable to assume that it will only be produced at the Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc assembly plant in Lafayette, In. USA. (As, I believe, all US Subarus are).

It is not imported, and therefore is a US Domestic Market vehicle.

i think Subaru aren't daft they realise from comments from over the last 2 years that the STi version will need to be a bit special for it to sell

Just stcking some gold wheels and blue seats in it won't fix it this time but If they "Phat" it up and more like the WRC car perhaps on to a winner not into hot hatches but did concider a VR6 4 motion

Rubbish. Subaru can only have one domestic market: its domestic market is in Japan no matter where the cars are manufactured.

Surely the 'domestic market' refers to the Country for which the vehicle was intended?.......just wait till the new STi is referred to as a Version eleventythree or whatever
