The autoexpress pictures are hideous - not this one^^^ but it's not going to look like that, is it?
I know there's been a fair few threads of he spy shots - but these are "official"

New Subaru Impreza to be hatchback only
03 April 2007
• First pictures of Subaru's new Impreza
• UK will only get hatchback version
• Impreza will have new 2.0-litre diesel from 2009
Subaru's next Impreza will be launched at the New York motor show on Friday - and it's being built in a striking new hatchback form.
Until now, the Impreza has only appeared in saloon and estate forms in this country. When the new Impreza hits the UK in the autumn, though, it will be sold only in the new five-door hatchback form.
That's not all that's new, though - from 2009, the car will feature the horizontally opposed 2.0-litre diesel engine first shown at the Geneva Motor Show last month. Otherwise, the engine range continues with the same petrol engines as the current car.
Another unexpected surprise is the omission of the 230bhp WRX model - Subaru wants to concentrate on higher-selling, less-expensive, lower-powered cars. However, a 300bhp STi performance model will be available next year.

Looks like the US still get a 4-door option.
The car also looses the frameless doors
Looks like Subaru has shunned the slightly quirky Impreza (which has earnt it it's own following) for a mass market dull-mobile.....Impreza has turned into an Astra!

I'm surprised they haven't just gone the whole hog, ditched the flat-4 and stuck some generic 4 Cyl in it
Subaru - You Suck.
I'm going to make a point the next time I go into my local dealers and ask them if the Company is on smack.

well if its going to look like that, one's things for sure, its not going to have a bad affect on the second hand prices of blobeye/hawkeye's.....might even increase their value!
maybe for once a good new age will fetch a premium price

I quite like the new interior but the rest is just at best dull and dated, at worst the biggest pile of crp Subaru could have come up with, not only does it look like every other car on the road(ok with a scoop on the bonnet ) but the front is identical to the front of the Crysler(cant remember the model but its in the same issue).
Rather worryingly the Hawk eye kind of grew on me, even the bug is growing on me(I know I know think I need to see the doc ) but I don't think this ever will, the only hope I guess is that Prodrive work some kind of miracle with the UK STI.
If Subaru are trying to appeal to a wider car market why do they still make it a 240 odd bhp performance car with a turbo and a big scoop on the bonnet?
The new Evo is ugly but man does it look like it means baseness! ..oh hold on here comes a Subaru...hold on, no that was a BMW..no a Crysler?..nope think it was actually a Mazda .....

I think the sedan impreza looks really bad. More like a cheap korean car, daewoo(chevrolet) or kia/hyundai. It is really bad, framed doors, small scoop, thank god I got a blobeye The hatchback verion is better I think, but still not fancy it.

As a hatch its nothing to shout out about design wise, bar the bonnet and front it looks okay but the front is fugly as hell. Their designer was obviously was useless, it looks like a mish mash of different parts and just doesn't work.. A very poorly hatched design.
Oh well at least the hawkeye and back will become desireable cars
