Default Tracking. Ripped off?

I paid £30 for tracking yesterday. It only took the 10mins and this includes the time it took to put the car on the ramp. I don't rememeber it being this much. Am I getting stingy in my old age?

And come to think of it the guy did look very cagey as he asked for my cash!

Is tracking the same as proper 4 - wheel alignment?

"Tracking" is just a check of the front-wheel toe-in angle. Some places will do this free and then charge £15-30 if adjustment is required. Often they will use a drive-over 'slip-mat' to do this - but ideally should use something like a 'SuperTracker'.

A full wheel-alignment is much more involved and costs £50-100. This will check all suspension angles, including toe, camber, castor, SAI, thrust angle - for both front and rear of the car.

All of these are only as good as the guy using the equipment.

For all your info as this seems quite cheap. I had it done at my local Formula One Autocenter. Front wheels only.
