BMW 318i v Bajie ...

What do you do?
You're in the local HiFi shop sorting out a nice in-home DVD solution when ...
"Ian, that Beemer just reversed into your car!"
Well, I got to the front door sharpish but the BM was driving off.
Theres me doing it Lethal Weapon 2 style chasing the ******* down the road.
Unfortunately, he did a left turn and toed it down the road.
Got back to the car and no real damage incurred. Until later when I found one of my headlights to be inoperative.
So, to you, Mr 318i J*** PTW. Thanks a lot.
Next time you see my Scoob you best stop.
We need to talk. First words out of your mouth had better be sorry ...
Anyone in the Harrow area seeing any red J reg 318i's, please give the driver a nice hard Paddington Bear stare for me.

Bajie,
I live in Eastcote, Ruislip and I'll keep a look out for you.
The thing is there are so many of those ****e Beemers around it may be hard to track that car down. I may need some more info.
Cheers

Bajie,
You have the reg number, go report it to the local plod house and they will have to investigate and give you the owners details regardless of whether they prosecute or not. Also, you can write to DVLA and they can also release details under the circumstances. I know, i've had to do it before.
Then we can go get him - yardie style - YUSH

I think you should get Plod to throw the book at him. Failure to stop after an accident. You have his reg number, you have witnesses.
Otherwise he/she is capable of doing it again after a much more serious incident.
My 6 cell Maglite is also at your disposal

DEFINATLY report him for failing to stop. Very little work on your part, great satisfaction when he gets between 5 & 10 points & a nice fat fine and can't afford to keep his sh*tty BMW.

Well, I have now changed my bulbs and have two working headlights.
Unfortunately, while changing them, I have found the front grill to be damaged. Not visibly, but the mountings to the offside headlight are loose as well as the grill.
Plod shall be told.
Thanks for the Maglite offers.
I love my car, but unfortunately I am one of the buffoons who would get caught administering punishment.
Mind you, a whole bunch of points and a possible ban will hopefully hurt him a lot more.

It happened to me. A neighbour reversed into my car and did not tell me. Fortunately, another neighbour did, so they let me know.
I called the police, who took the whole thing very seriously and I got it sorted. Apparently, they take a very very dim view on drive off's.
Go 4 it!

If this does happen, get the details of a witness to declare that they can't see the offending vehicle, or even better if they've seen the car drive off.
Because if the other party gets an alibi sorted before the cops catch up with them you've got no chance.
Only know this as the old man was involved with a hit and run and ended up paying for a new **** for his Legacy.

Question
If this scensrio happened, however, you were actually parked on Double yellow lines....could you do anything? ie...you shouldn't have legally been parked there in the first place?!?!
Just a thought

I'm glad you're reporting him Bajie.
Same thing (as what Mike described) happened to a mate of mine. He's a doctor and his bike was parked at Kingston hospital. An **** of a security guard reversed into the bike and then dragged it along for about 8 feet! Luckily someone came and got my friend and told him that someone had hit his bike. He went outside, and the to55er pretends that it was nothing to do with him. Luckily there was a witness in the form of a nearby Paramedic. The guy also tried to intimidate my friend, but that didn't work. He was told by my friend that he had a week to sort out the insurance but when he disagreed (he didn't have insurance apparently) and did nothing my friend reported him to the Hospital authorities and the Police. My friend got his repair costs, the guy got fired (apparently he was on a final warning due to job performance already), and it all ended satisfactorily (well not for the to55er but he only had himself to blame).

My car was parked on a meter and I had put money in it!
NickM
You know my view on violence. Watch it on tele, but I just know I'll get done if I find him and slap him. I'll leave it with the local constabulary.
I went to the police last night and was given the relevant form to report the accident.
Fortunately I have at least four independent witnesses. So far I have spent £20 for new bulbs and will have to make time to get the car seen by my friendly Subaru dealer.

Bloody annoying isn't it Ian.
Some tit in a jeep did the same to my Motorbike last year causing around £1,500's worth of cosmetic damage.
Reported to Police, promptly dealt with thereafter to a satisfactory conclusion.

If he's local the cops should be able to short list anything with the PNC in the area. Did you have a witness in the shop as well, as this will help substantiate a legal **** kicking for the Beemer driver - and a headlight of course.

Yes, it was the shop owner and some customers who saw the incident.
I have to get his surname on the form and then its down to plods house and let them take it from there.
Basically, the car damage has really peed me off, but I'm more angry about him not stopping.
I'll let you all know how it g0es

Driving into your car is forgivable as their could have been other factors involved (like congenital stupidity), but driving off afterwards (and obviously he was aware of what he was doing as he sped off) is inexcusable.
To55er.
Sorry - but this really pi55es me off. You're lucky that there were witnesses so it should be an open and shut case.

Bajie,
Did the shop owner get a good look at the driver? Don't mean to be the bearer of potential bad news, but if no-one saw the driver clearly (eg give a positive ID) then there could be a problem.
I had a similar problem in Wembly, where a Golf had scrapped the side of my honda & drove off. Report reg number to plod, but could not give poss id. Pc plod did not even call round - just send letter to registered owner who denied being in the area & don't know who was driving at the time. Plod send letter saying not much they could do.
Hope your case won't come to that.
