I'm amazed your gearbox lasted the power run with that torque!

Although the PPG is helical it does have a slight whine to it, hence "semi helical" but remember the PPG is only gears 1-4 so OE 5th will be nice and quiet on the motorway but you have to remember to drop a cog when nailing it.

The 6 speed, be it uk or JDM you will be constantly be stirring the gearbox 1-4, but it is the cheaper option - also with a JDM you'll need a matching rear diff.

i would go with PPG as the 6 speed will make your car slower !!

im on the same positiom and going ppg

reason being

1, i like the rations
2, I dont like the fact the 6 speed is second hand
3, 5 speed weighs less

i had a classic shaped impreza with RA gearing !! i managed to blow that gearbox up so i then added the cheaper 6 speed JDM gearbox . after fitting my car lost its visciuos <spelling> pull ?? how can a car accelerate so madly thru 1st to 4th then add a 6 speed box and loose it all ?? from my experience fitting a 6 speed box on a well modded car with 5 speed is a step back !!
