classic shape JDM 2 door coupes
Hi guys, please can you let me know what classic shapes cars were available as 2 door coupes, I'm not looking at P1's etc. I want something insureable although what I'm about to mention I have no info on so it may be just as uninsurable itself as I'm not up on JDM cars but I've come across a nice looking STi V4 Type R coupe, totally standard, I really want to move with it and buy the car but I'm having trouble with insurance quotes. I'm running quotes on bell.co.uk, they seem the most competitive for my age but I can't find the car anywhere in the list. There are other imports in the list but I can't find this particular model. Do insurance companies relate to them by a different name? When I put the reg in, I still have to select the car details so I'm hitting a brick wall there. And are there any other 2 door coupes available besides the P1?

P1 should be cheapest 2 door to insure as its a UK car. V4 Type R should be more expensive.
Check out the insurance section of SNet and speak to the specialist insurers advertising there. Much better to help you with quotes.

You're better off phoning the insurance companies to be honest.
If I remember rightly there's a note at the bottom of the bell page saying that they are unable to quote for imports online(even though they appear in the drop down menu)

They deffo quote online, I've been quoted on a celica GT four import online. I've basically found that with my age I'm only really insurable up to group 17 cars. I didn't know if any of the jap 2 doors were equivalent to this insurance group, I'm not familiar with their outputs or specs but the coupes just look really bonnie I did suspect with the letters STi being in there that it was more than likely very expensive

bleurgh another one out of the window! I think I may stick with the import gt four as first choice. I'd love a scooby but something just a little different to your everyday chav bus on the road. I know there're a lot of celicas out there usually badly modded but this was a 40k miler, fresh import and immaculate in standard trim no mods so definitely worth a look. I'm going to have a look at the import centre in keighley this weekend to see what they have in. Hopefully they'll be able to point me in the right direction.
Basically I don't have my heart set on any particular car but want something a little less common, group 17 maximum, 4WD or RWD is a must and with some decent power behind it. Ideally I'm hoping to get a fresh import purely because of mileage and condition - usually 10 times better than UK cars!

really? I haven't seen a car in particular I like there but I thought it'd jog my memory on available jap cars that're within my reach. The options are endless, all that restricts me is the group 17 thing but I want to do it before I have to start worrying about mortgages etc so its a catch 22 either way so I just have to settle for the best I can but thanks for the heads up on keighley, ill do a search cheers for that!

Do some homework first. Fresh imports just of the boat with no previous in this country is like throwing a dart at the board IMO.
Also do a search on here for JDM Vs UK impreza. Argued at least once a month.

From first group buy last year. Only problem I have which isn't really the wheels fault is that the outer rim sticks out a fair bit and very easy to kurb. Very happy with them though.
