So what's the final word on PPP effect on MPG?
With PPP for £1100 or less at the mo I am tempted to go for it with my 54 WRX.
But I really don't want to be making any more trips to the garage then I already do with my standard WRX.
I heard different things about PPP - some say it helps MPG and some say it hinders.
The only person I know who had it, had it fitted to his STi and he said it had a 'shocking' effect on his MPG - ie worse, but he still loved the performance it provided.
Anyone out there who has had a blobeye WRX BEFORE PPP and AFTER - who can give me a feel for what I could expect?

I am sure that as with most things,if you use the extra performance more, then it will have an effect on economy, however,i find my STI PPP very reasonable if i use higher gears and let the extra torque carry the car along.
Most cars that i have had remapped do actually improve the MPG,because you find yourself in a higher gear more of the time.

My MY02Sti went from 17mpg to 19 mpg after fitting PPP, as didn't have to keep changing down so often most peeps reckon, no worse no better

Decat and remap improved mpg on mine when you not using the extra available power. More free flowing exhaust etc so engine doesn't have to work so hard at low revs. A lot of it is down to driving style I reckon. Better off spending the £1100 on the best pipework you can get and an ecutek rather than PPP in my opinion. Probably get an extra 20 horses too.

I would say most mappers would improve on BHP and MPG over the PPP options. Our experience is of very rich mixtures with PPP cars.

Your absolutely correct, using fuel to cool the engine and little point if your near end of warranty and your not going to take up an Subaru extended
but for those with Warranty, they normally prefer to keep it PPP is the answer.

I bought brand new MY05 WRX - got ~22/23MPG (no motorways). After 1yr I got the PPP added for 1100. Now I get nearer 20mpg. I only went PPP for warranty reasons, so maybe you are better going for a good zorst and re-map (probably cheaper and better gains). I will say the PPP has made the WRX soooooo much better though - sounds like a Scoob should and pulls much better from low down. I got 267bhp and 290ftlb on the RR a couple of weeks back

After getting ppp fitted to my 03sti the mpg actually got better on a long run, the std car does run rather rich so the ppp must lean it off a bit, and it makes the power band wider requiring less gear changes.
The way the 03sti should of been imho.

Thanks all - a mixed bag of responses - I'm still very tempted - I also can't decide to add PPP to my 54 WRX or buy a hawkeye WRX with it already fitted. hmmm. anyway thanks for all the responses.
