TCELL,
I an pretty sure you have only got a 50 Litre tank, think they changed to 60L, on the later models, but can't remember when.
Do a search on fuel tanks etc , I'm sure I've read this on here before.
Failing that, what does your owners manual say?

Cheers MTR

Thumbs up

Well my 96 UK Turbo has a 50 litre tank, and as far as I know all pre 97 models have the same.
Saying that someone will prove me wrong now...

Darren.

Milky,

I have a MY96 Series McRae, handbook says 60 litre tank on Turbo, 50 litres on other models. SIDC FAQ thinks pre96 cars all had 50 litre tanks, if yours was a very early 96 it may have a 50 litre tank

Oh, another thing as well that isn't really constructive (sorry):

Pete Croney put a post up recently about having to replace a fuel filter as a result of the fuel crisis. Whether the owner had run it low and therefore dragged all the crap at the bottom of the tank through the filter, or whether the crap came from the bottom of the petrol station's tank is unknown.

Running low/out may not be a great move?

Hope this is somewhat useful.

I wouldn't recommend driving around with any petrol in a spare can for any time: after seeing the extra mess that can result, leave the can empty and circle a petrol station until you run out

Exclamation

It is illegal and highly dangerous to carry petrol in a can in the car. Expect 4 points and £300 if caught!
