Default BACK FIRE

Hi guys,
my dad has a turbo 2000 uk car on a year 2000 plate. He has bought it a while now with a lot of the tunning done before he bought it i.e. de-cat turbo down pipe(group a) and exhaust and it was re mapped by tsl and a dump valve. I'm not sure if the boost has been increased. Last few weeks when driving it we've been hearing the exhaust back fire. I have taken it to a local jap specialist called RSE in order to change the oil and get the spark plugs changed and re gapped. Could any of you gods out there explain why it is back firing and the cause of this. We also feel that its not getting the full power. Your help is very much appreciated!!!!! Just to add, when we first start it it struggles to start and the alarm sounds for a sec or two.

Get the service done before you do anything else as it could be the plugs need cleaning so changing them is even better. then see what happens.

Your battery is either the wrong size for the job or is on its way out. I had this happen to me in our brief cold snap. Put on a decent battery and now mine flies over when I turn the key.

VTA dump valve and a full de-cat will make it pop and bang when the pipe is hot.

You might also find that one of the joints on the exhaust isn't sealed properly.
