...I will be looking to change cars in Jan ( Iwork in sales, however, I opt out of the car scheme so I can drive something other than a Vectra, Mondeo our 4-cylinder BMW)
Don't know what to get next...the (very) short list is:
Skyline R34 GTR V-Spec
BMW M3 Convertable (See how many people that upsets!)
Any suggestions.....?

I cant comment on the skyline but i too have a bmw m3 convertible and think it complements the scooby extremely well. The m3 is great for general motorway driving and of course sunny days, it is a real mile muncher and it realy is beautiful to drive and a real mile muncher. However when compared to the scooby it feels like a real tank. Being a convertible the dampers are quite soft and although it handles well it takes a lot more concentration to drive quickly on anything but a straight road.
Overall though they do make good stable mates but i definately prefer the sti for seat of your pants driving.

The only bonus of the M3 (over the GTR) is that you get the enjoyment of open top motoring. If this is not a big issue for you I'd recommend the GTR instead - much better car.

Its not a case of opening the roof when its sunny its more like taking the roof down when its not raining. Definately heaters on full. Would also recommend the wind deflector which helps a lot.

H - I'm in a similar position, and am starting to arrange test drives for December. Fun cars on my shortlist are:
Evo 6
Honda S2000
Porsche Boxster 'S'
Porsche 993 Carrera
BMW M-Coupe
Lotus Esprit V8-GT
(and a big maybe) Ferrari F355
If I end up spending a packet (ie. Skyline money) I really want something with style and charisma. To spend over 60K, it'd have to be a ferrari, to spend over 40K, a 911.
Gary.
