Default JDM Impreza BHP Figures ?

I've got a work mate who'se in the process of buying a Jap subaru

He insists that a standard '98 Jap STI saloon produces "far more" than 300 bhp

But i was quoting him the 280bhp figure that was part of the gentlemans agreement ?

and i was under the impression the normal Jap WRX (we're talking '98 here, before the UK turbo was renamed WRX) was slightly less again.

i've seen the figures on SIDC, but they are out, showing the STI as having 300 bhp. And the figures in wikipedia are wrong too.

anybody got a definitife link to their BHP outputs ?

Likewise, my V3 has been rr'd @ 326bhp @7,500rpm. Standard except for decat and k&n. Raised a few eyebrows at the dyno day, 20 cars there and most of the standard new STi's were producing bang on their factory figures.
Think it does depend on the version, the v3 has wild cams and big turbo.

far more than 300 is a myth....my 555 sti is about 300-320 and is fully decatted and breathing well ! and that is plenty !! the gentlemans agreement was 276bhp and was adhered to (lightly) gtr skylines were known to push 330-350bhp as were supra tt's. most sti's and evo 4's were touching 300bhp afaik ! but they are now 10+ yrs old and if you get 300 then you have a bonus !!
