I had a 94 Sti and put a standard UK clutch plate in it on advice of mechanic. I was never happy as it was extremely juddery, ended up getting new STi Clutch and Flywheel for full replacement. It may have just been the flywheel was knacked first time but given the labour is always a good whack I'd get the flywheel inspected and if its even slightly dodgy(hairline cracks) then replace the lot, IMHO since I've been stung on this before and paid double labour.

Chandler,

Depends if you want a 'Subaru' one on not.
If you do, sorry, I can't answer your question.

There are good alternatives.
'Blue Print' do a full range of Japanese replacement components, manufactured to "original equipment equivalent".

Available from independent motor factors, Brown Brothers etc.
Try Blue Print's web site for your nearest distributor

Chandler,

The clutch went on mine recenlty. I had it replaced by SGT in Taplow, who recommended that I also change the flywheel. Total £888

It wasn't so much the cost of the parts, but the labour costs that pushed it up.

mattski

Need to know some more details:
year
chassis prefix
engine no.

Blue Print currently list the following Jap grey import applications:

Nov.'92 - Aug.'96
GC8
EJ20

and

Oct.'93 - Aug.'96
GF8
EJ20

Clutch kit part no. ADS73017
Market guide price £289.50

Once again, this is Blue Print's GUIDE PRICE.
Your supplier may well quote a better price.
It's worth checking!

(Like my previous post, this for information purposes only, so please don't take the above prices as a quote from me!)

Wise words Cammy.

I would advise anyone needing a clutch to have their flywheel skimmed to take a 230mm clutch and fit an AP or Helix kit. The Helix comes with a new release bearing, but make sure this is also replaced if you are fitting the AP.

Both of these clutches are designed and manufactured for performance and durability, as opposed to budget.

Falkens or SO2's???

Brown Brothers are quoting about £205 inc vat for the ADS73017 for a 96 UK Turbo. General advice seems to be that a skim of the flywheel is a good idea while you are at it. The dealer I contacted were talking about the skim being difficult due to heat spots / hairline cracks - I guess this depends on how abused it has been and it is obviously easier for a dealer just to fit a new flywheel than have the hassle.

Brown Bros reckoned that the ADS****013 was a clutch kit for a 1.8 Subaru not a 2.0ltr Turbo.

Quite right - Doh!

Bit of muppet fever there I'm afraid - sorry! (Please be assured, I would have double checked it before selling it!)
Anyway I've corrected my post above.

ADS73017 for £205 inc. VAT is a pretty good price.
I posted Blue Print's market guide price for guidance only - NOT AS A QUOTE.
