I have read somewhere that the WRC car thats making its debut in Mexico is a re-engineered version of the current car.

Do you think this will be the 08 car ? Personally i hope it isn`t as it looks like the sort of car a mum would take the kids to school in with a bonnet vent and a spoiler.

Yeah, that's the one. My local garage has the new shape on order to go rallying in. Its due for arrival in the next couple of months, so if they can get it, I am sure the WRC boys can.

That's what we said when the bugeye came out.. They ruined everything. Just wait till you see it live. Shorter and wider.. imagine the handling.. Finally since the 22b - no apparent difference between the wrc car and the road going version. can't wait!

The rear spoiler sucks imo, but I am sure some body styler can sort that one element out for me Next on the list is a bank manager who is prepared to fund the purchase

i thought that the FIA stated that a newer version of the same model couldnt be used until X amount of them was sold as factory cars?

If you can't beat the Citroen Xsara WRC then make one that looks like it and call it the new Subaru Impreza WRC.

The raly car debuting in Mexico in a couple of months will be a slightly tweaked version of the current rally car.

The MY08 road car will be launched in April 07 at one of the shows or something like that which means a rally car based on this won't be around until later. I'd guess Jan 08 for the Monte or something like that.

why is it that car makers make a nice car (say the classic impreza) and gradually over 15 years turn it into a dog ! ??? why is that ?? does technology have to be pig ugly ?? i mean look at the bug eye !

The 3/4 /**** of of that is truely hideous - how dare any body compare to the xsara ..



But im understanding where your coming from- the front end of the concepts 3/4 down that blog is v.acceptable but somones lost the plot if they do *that* back end.

It would seem the Auto Express pictures are the new shape and indeed are identical to the spy shots taken of the new impreza such as the one in Japanese performance in Jan 07.
The other photos being posted as the so called new shape, although similar, are photoshoped Mazdas.

I think a hatch back is an excellent idea, will sell well and it looks good to me.
I was reading somewhere there will not be a WRX version, just an 1.5, 2.0 and 2.0 STi.

If the torque and handling are improved further, as is suggested on this new model, who cares if it's looks are not perfect to some...the current model is awful to look at.
