My hubbie is chairman of a ****** IAM .in the South. yes it is worth doing would you like me to get some info for you?
... however I have been told NOT to show up as I would never pass... and I think he'd die of embarrassment... he drives a 406 turbo diesel estate... ha ha

There are a fair few of us on here who have passed their IAM Advance test and of course would recommend it! (we're hardly gonna say it's crap though are we 
) Seriously though, you learn to be more aware, drive smoother and safer whilst (depending on how good you were before you started ) driving faster

Check out John Lyon and HPC. Number generally in the back of evo mag, etc. www.hpc.org.uk Best road driving I've experienced. Also would strongly recommend time with Don Palmer to further develop car control.

I thought you had to have a clean licence to join - they might tolerate an SP30?
At renewal time you are supossed to declare any new convictions. I had 2 speeding once, and thought I wouldn't bother re-newing -rather than be snubbed by them for driving advancedly, but over the limit.
I did the test and passed, that was more important to me than being a yearly member.
Never got a penny off insurance after passing, as I have never owned an Austin Maxi - they have all been somewhat more 'advanced' than that and more loadable-upable, rather than discoutable!

Check out your local RoSPA group. About £50 gets you FREE 1 - 2 hour "sessions" with a top instructor for as long as you need, til you are ready to be examined (exam is £40 + £5 join + £5 yearly subs from what I remember = £50 up front).
Most police use this as the cheapest most effective way to start their driver training (so I was told).
Also get montly meets, skid pan sessions arranged (take the scoob on !!!) etc.
Thoroughly recommend it !
