Hi all,
This is my first thread so hope I do everything right.....
I've just purchased my first scooby! Yay!
Got a 2004 WRX STI with the Prodrive Performance Pack on it!
Paid a fair whack for the insurance as I'm only 21 but it was definately worth it.
I do almost 250 miles a week on the motorway and was wondering if there was an optimum speed for cruising at to get a good amount of miles to the gallon. I know it sounds daft buyin a scoob and wanting to get a fair amount of miles to a tank but I don't want to be spending £100 a week on petrol!
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I got insurance with admiral but elephant are a bit cheaper. I only got the 10 month accelerator policy as I'm still building up my no claims (currently got 2). These are the only two companies that would quote me less than £4000. Everyone else just quoted silly prices. Someone even said that the best they could do was £9 and I wouldn't "get it any cheaper from anyone else". My mate has a wrx and he said swinton give him an ok quote.
Good luck.

I own the same spec car as you and you petrol bill is going to be high. Even sitting at 70 in sixth the mpg will be 25 max i would have thought.
Taking into account little blasts you will drag it straight back down again to 20mpg.
Fuel coupled with your circa 4000 pound insurance bill = costly car to run.
Just noticed your location and if i were you i would make use of Tesco 99 available at Marton, could save you a few quid over VPower.
Enjoy

I started to use Tesco 99 this weekend against the previous owners insistence of using Optimax or VPower. And unfortunately (for my pocket) I do enjoy the odd blast every now and again so I guess I'll be getting about 20mpg max. But I knew how much I would end up paying when I bought it so I guess its my own fault.
Btw, I got my insurance down to just under £2300 after a little bartering.

Welcome to the group.
One lucky chap @ 21 in an STi PPP. Good for you man.
Usually around 240 per tank (circa £43). I haven't found any particular speed to get better miles. It always floats around that figure.
Someone told me many years ago that 56mph was the optimum speed, but how that would work for everycar i don't know.
Nieve and gullable back then i guess.

I know where you can get a good subaru specialist LPG conversion done including having it installed, correctly setup and remapped. Talking to the fitter last week the kit has been specially selected and put together for subaru engine.
A recent conversion gives 250mles for £20 and on rollers reaches 285.9 bhp on lpg and 271.7 on petrol.
