Default Advice on P1's

Oh dear, I have now had 4 different scoobs in 18 months (WRX STi V3/ WRX 2003 (JDM)/ STi 8 (JDM) / UK Turbo 2000). Just as I was about to get them out of my system and go for a V8, I realised that I have never had a P1.

Forget performance, I am a great fan of JDM models and would happily go for another STi if I wanted to fly, it's just that I want to own what feels like the 'missing link' from my scoob experiences!

However, advice needed, I am not a nutter, in fact most of my driving is motorway miles. Problem is I cover 20,000 miles a year and have heard horror stories about the P1 engine giving up at low mileage. What should I expect if I buy a car with 40/50k on the clock. Will the engine turn into chocolate on me?
