Default WR1 Service???

I've just got back from the garage where I was looking at a very low mileage WR1. Was supposed to be purchasing a newer STI but got there, saw it and it looks lovely, seems to be mint and more to the point - exactly what I thought the car would be (always like the idea/sound of them).

In my cloudy, dreamy state I forgot to ask about the servicing.

My dad has an 05 WRX with PPP so I called him on the way back to discuss the car and he has told me that they not only need a normal yearly service (10k) but they also need to go in for an 'special service' every 5k miles.

Is this right and what sort of a service is it? If it is true - does anyone know how much it costs?

Cheers

I'd better check my book on this one

Ta, it's the same as your next one
I had a UK300 prior, as you can probably guess by the user name
The 1 only cost about £80 more per year in insurance and the fuel is about the same, believe it or not
Go for it

I think Im going to have to. It was parked next to the STI that I originally went to look at. Then drove it and it didnt really leave me with any choice (other than modding the STI)

Have you heard of any horror stories or any probs that I should look out for when I buy/own it?

I have not had a pick of bother with mine. It's under warranty so not worried at the moment, will obviously be extending the warranty when the time comes.
I've not heard any horror stories but someone is sure to have.
I went for a Black STI and came back with the 1
Let me know when you've got it

I would hope that even a dealer wouldn't charge more than £70-£80 for an oil and filter change? Specialist would probably be cheaper. They're nice cars and I certainly wouldn't say no. Once you get used to that "unusual" blue that is! Just keep your sunglasses on.

I know - the colour is a little bit 'different' shall we say. But all the same, it does look good.

Hi there,

As en ex WR1 owner the 5000 mile service is 'just' an oil change and mostly cost around £150. I did over 30,000 miles in my car before it disappeared so had a bit of experience with the servicing.

It does become a pain after a bit, I think my record was 5 weeks between services on one occasion!

Having said that I loved the car.

Robin
