Seems like my clutch on my 99 STI V6 Coupe R has started to slip a bit. Cars done 34K. Is this good ? What is the average life expectency of a clutch ??

Also, what is the highest mileage STI ?? Not too sure whether I should sell the car before I get to 50K.

£670!

On another thread you can get one for £300 new... or about £400 for an uprated one like AP

Add to this about £150 to fit (or twice that from a main dealer, probably)

34,000 - not bad compared to most people

I had one clutch last me 2000 miles - but that was on a Cossie

Steve Lawson should be cheaper than the main dealers for fitting - and he'll do the job properly!

jjk, again one more vote for putting in the AP clutch. Really worth it, no loss of comfort. They have to drop the gearbox anyway, so why not put an uprated item in at the same time. Price won't be that different.

I've spoken to Steve and he does not want his number publishing
He's a very busy person - at least throughout most of December! - (so he cant be that bad....)

He's based nr Gatwick

Jason - I'll mail you offline with the details - if it does not work then mail me - I've been accused of not sending mails recently

Highly recommended (and I aint easy to please!)

Wink

Mine lasted 46000 miles (came over from Japan at 40000) I dumped the clutch a bit too much or it would have last longer.....

My current one is at 10k and fine

My scoob has done 32000 miles and its o.k ish! its a my00 and has had the judder since about 10000.
couldnt get no joy from dealer under warrenty so ill just put a decent one in then.
if you do go for Ap and theres no slip whats so ever is it likely to knacker the box instead???

Just done over 50k in my MY99 Sport - clutch was adjusted at the last service because it was slipping, but nothing more serious than that.
