If you're talking about the whistling / chattering noise, then this was covered in a recent thread. Apparantly it has something to do with the anti-lag systems fitted to the car.

To be honest Nick - I haven't a clue. Perhaps like most Scooby owners, the rally boys just like big loud exhausts and Blitz induction systems

No one has told the manufacturers then, cos they all use it. In fact the cars would be undriveable without it.
If you want LOUD, catch the Skoda WRC cars. They are twice as loud as anything else

I apologise for that last statment.
A friend of mine told me they had banned it on WRC cars now....oh well.
But anyway
Anti-lag makes the pop's and BANGS & Wastegate Chatter makes the chirps.
