Having possibly gone through a speed trap at lunchtime at a speed which might have been embarassing (but not fatal to my licence) I was wondering about the dreaded subject of radar detectors.
Anybody got a recommendation based on living with one (so to speak) and possible suppliers?

How much do you want to spend and what are you looking at protecting against?
Protecting against everything(except VASCAR) is expensive(about 1000 quid for all round protection).
For Radar(gatso) and minigatso the Bel Euro 550I is about the best it gets, reckon about about 350 quid
For Laser then a LE850 laser diffuser, reckon on about 280 quid. The Bel 550 will detect laser, but gives you no time to react and so IMHO is pretty useless.
For SPECS, forward facing and non RADAR Gatso. The Geodesy comes highly recommended. A new device call Origin Blue i is out any time now. Cost about 380 quid.
I've bought stuff from Networx automotive(they've done a few group buys too) and found them to be top guys. http://www.networxautomotive.com/
In practice a Geodesy/Origin blue plus the LE850 is pretty much all you need. That and a more controlled right foot

You should be able to get the Bel Euro 550 for 320GBP on mention of the Scoobynet group buy from Networx. Their number is 01555666444. As far as I know the group buy is still on.
