NEW VIRUS with the name W32.Badtrans.B@mm infects the files c:\windows\system\kernel32.exe and some other files as kdll.dll(non windows files) etc.
In safe mode remove these files from your computer and then remove the value kernel or kernel32 from your windows registry in the line:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\RunOnce.
If you received a e-mail attachement with the name sy... don't open the file, delete it ASAP!

Let's keep calm. This virus is not the most widespread we've ever seen, it's not the most destructive and it's not tricky to detect and remove. It's only affecting and only being spread by users of out of date Antivirus software and those with none.

Couple of tips:-
1)Purchase, install and update your choice of Antivirus software.

2)Never act on advice from statements you've read on a BBS - check with your Antivirus vendor first. After all that's what you just paid for and we all have pretty good, clean websites.

3)Make sure you update every week at minimum or purchase a service that will update for you - in most cases the download will be smaller than the pictures in the members gallery.

4)Make backups of anything you just can't lose. CD burners work well are inexpensive and are bloody handy for other things.

5)If you're a Windows user make sure you use www.windowsupdate.comit works pretty well.

6)Read #2 again.
