MudFlaps Question

MudFlaps Question
I am after a full set of mudflaps fo rmy 06 STi - mostly because when I marshall we usually drive the rally stage, and I don't want too many stone chips!
Standard Subaru mudflaps are quite pricey, and I can see a few on ebay for around the 50 quid mark.
Has anybody tried these, are they any good? I don't want them dragging on the floor etc., these aren't for "looks" they are purely to stop the stones chipoping the paint...
Any advice welcome

I have the 06 STI too and I got a set from Performance Creations (via ebay). They had loads of choices of design and colour and even varied it slighty on request. £56 for the set and seem good quality. A little tricky to fit but worth the effort. Very happy with them.

I got mudban ones... look good and do a great job. Just remember not to reverse up any kerbs or obstacles... at best you will remove you flaps, at worst you'll take half your bumper off!

Not fitted them yet, thats a job for saturday...
but i'm very impressed with the quality, s/steel brackets, laser cut 3mm pvc, genuine subaru fixing gear... top quality IMO.
they have a choice of colours and logos etc too.

Use loads of copper grease on the inserts cos they will rust solid.
Most kits use stainless steel brackets and screws, but the black subaru inserts use mild steel nuts! daft.

I have a set of Performance Creations flaps (from ebay).
Very pleased with them.
Check out the Group Buys Section on here, I am sure there is a group buy on now for these flaps.

Has anyone tried the Sparco mudflaps available from Revolution, think they were priced around 15 noted.
Enquired as to getting some here in Finland from the local dealership, Prodrive retailing at 200€ plus fitting, seems a bit steep to me.

Eek do they all attach on that way? It's not that I reverse up kerbs very often, but I can see potholes on rally stages, and I occasionally go in fields with dips etc. ?

what about these ones?
eBay.co.uk: Subaru Impreza Polyurethane mudflaps Sti WRX (item 160026780484 end time 02-Jan-07 14:20:56 GMT)
are not pvc like the cheaper ones. Polyurethane is a lot better stuff.

I've got the scoobyworld ones, very good but i reversed up a kerb and ripped the front mudflap in half and managed to move the wing with it. Luckily it wasn't too bad and it didn't do any lasting damage.
Your fine going forwards, normal driving is fine, pot holes are fine as long as you are not reversing, you should be fine with them.
Here are mine, not the best of pictures

Performance Creations on Ebay as others have said. Top quality mudflaps for a reasonable price, they look good, serve their purpose and I've just bought another set for my JDM.

Why the issue with stone chips though? I've only had my car a few weeks, well just coming up to who weeks i think, got it xmas eve, and it has loads of chips already!
Ok its an 03 but it was unmarked when i got it and i've done the miles over christmas (about 1000) seeing family but i'm shocked at how thin the paint is. Two chips to the roof have actually bubbled paint around them and i'm sure that stone chip paint from Halfrauds is not going to hide it! Gutted already and it is spoliing a lovely car.

I don't know, I washed my car on Christmas Eve and there weren't any noticeable stone chips. I'm not going to bother with the mud flaps and take my chances with stones - I go up kerbs (INTENTIONALLY!) occasionally, and I don't fancy a pot hole, kerb or anything else ripping off the mudflap and part of hte car
