I had a Simota one on mine. Gave good results, slight increase in induction noise.

Can have it for a tenner if you want...

dynamix you're joking, i should check this forum more often! its been a while!

ok, well if GazTheHat gets back to me and still has the Simota filter for sale i will just take that, for £10 i am not risking much.

thanks dynamix, will stick to the panel filter after reading that. its low end i need power, the turbo lag on the wrx is huge from the smaller turbos i am use to.

all fun when it does kick in, lol!

Standard paper filter for me... Prodrive did some pressure drop tests on various panel filters and concluded the standard one did not cause a restriction what so ever

has yours been re-mapped?

this can cure this low end power/lag issue in a remarkable way

nope not yet dynamix, i really do need to get this done after xmas, just had a new exhaust system fitted done nothing else as of yet, but really want to.

Did fit a dump valve, but took it off because every gear changed left me popping then melting the front gill of the car behind me!

The lag seems bad, but what annoying with the wrx is that from standing 1st gear hits the rev limit in few seconds (don’t know what I have a first gear for sometimes)

so now i pull of slow, which means when I get to 3rd and then do decide to put my foot down (we all put our foot down now and then!!!) its like, here it comes….wait…wait…bang, whoosh!

On the upside the car never seems to run out of puff like my last, on my imported Mr2 Turbo it will do 30mph+ in first gear, knock you back in the seat and make your eyes water! but at the rev limit the mr2 runs out of steam and its all over just as the wrx is coming to live and roaring passed!

Once the turbo kicks in on the wrx it’s a different car and leaves most cars for dead, but 0-30 its no faster then my old 1.6l vts and it’s the low end power I miss!

J&R Blue Sports Panel Filter.

Made a great difference to response and pick up of the engine.

Defintitely breathes better & goes quicker.

Got mine from Speed Republic.

Good investment.
