Puravent cabin/pollen filter..;)
There has recently been quite a few threads about windows misting up and cabin filter renewal being a possible cure.
So having suffered with this for some time (as well as getting huge amounts of dust on dash etc..) I decided it was time to change the filter.
Easy enough on the newage scoobs, half a dozen or so self tappers and a plastic screw clip to remove glove box and undo a couple of elec. connectors for ease of access and there it is behind a white cover/flap on top of the round fan/motor. (someone posted pics of this recently, but IMHO it is very easy).
On removing the OEM filter I was amazed at the lightweight paper design and also the amount of ****e caught in it..! (2 years old/24k).
I have seen threads about a Nissan N12 paper filter fitting for around £10 from Halfrauds and also that the main stealer charges £48+ vat for a plain paper filter ..! FFS (I know I checked..!).
I had also heard about and seen Puravent carbon filters, that claimed to filter harmful chemical fumes, for £21 delivered. So weighing up the costs/options I decided to give Puravent a try. Ordered Thursday afternoon and arrived Sat AM, fitted 10 mins later.
All I can say is WOW, what a difference..!
No longer do I have to switch on the recir air on whilst reversing the car when cold (we all know how smelly scoob exhausts are when cold..) or when sitting in traffic..! The cabin has never smelt so fresh..
As for the steamy windows, the windscreen certainly seems a lot clearer, but a wet damp day is needed for a true test IMO.
From my point of view the £21 is well worth it for the elimination of the exhaust fumes that I quite often had.
A highly recommended upgrade..
BTW I have no connection with this company, just a very impressed customer..!

lol sorry but we charge £16 for a pollen filter (main dealer as well) whoever said £48 + vat is having you on!
also you should find the service interval is about every 9200 miles as well or 12 months so if it hasn't been changed what sort of service are you getting?

£48+ and I ain't the only one who's been quoted that..!
With regards to service, the pollen filter (according to Carstins) isn't a service item..! Also it's not part of the service schedule in my drivers manual/service book..?
Is your filter carbon or just paper as OEM..?

My mate recently changed my pollen filter for me on my bug (it's not mentioned on the service schedule anywhere) and it was caked in black crap - I am betting it was the original item.
Now you mention it I no longer suffer from frequently steaming windows since changing this
