Default Roadside Assistance

My warranty is due to run out and with it Subaru Assist.

I've never bothered with cover before, but plan to.

Any recommendations?

I'd rather be towed to a garage of my choosing than the nearest one.

Only had cover once, which was with Direct Line.

They would only tow to a radius of 10 miles, then you would be charged per mile after that. Which i thought was crap. Especially as the one time we used it, my wife's Golf GTi broke down 22 miles from home.

No warranty = Mod time?

I'm insured with DL so was considering them - Might give them a miss now - Cheers!!

Car is MY00.

Happy with the car the way it is - Completely standard.

Should make it easier to sell later on.

Go to a shopping centre/services. They'll have stands and give you special offers. I was going to join Green Flag with the Mrs, I tried every 2/3 days to sign up on line but kept getting an error, when I phoned up the woman said 'yeah, we are having a few dificulties with the computers, try again later'. If the company can't be botherd to fix their system (with it being down for two weeks) to take my money I don't hold out much hope for them arranging to come out and fix my car! We ended up getting full cover with the AA, 'joint' for the price of 'single' at Meadowhall.

I think I am with RAC through my LloydsTSB account. Never had reason to use them though so I cannot comment on them.
All I am worried about is the day I do need them that they dont just expect to tow me anywhere that's all.
I can see it now, mester RAC turns up after an hour, and says right, where you want towing? LOL.

I'm with AA through Lloyds TSB bank account (pay extra for account and get AA, free travel insurance etc) and have used them once with no problems, arrived within 20 minutes (about 9.30pm) and fixed it roadside, I'm covered and not the car so any car I am a passenger in is entitled to assistance.

If you do need to be towed, insist on a low loader or transporter when phoning them as you can bugger the diff up on a scoob if you raise the front end and tow from back wheels.
