Unhappy Give her the once over...

Hi just bought a import MY95 WRX wagon and after a spirited run this morning left it running for a couple of minutes and noticed smoke coming from the engine bay ??

Where is the best place to take it for a full diagnostic, I was thinking of Scooby Clinic and just wondered who you would recommend - any help appreciated.

Thanks.

Good choice, especially if they're local to you. Hope the smokey engine bay is nothing serious, may just be some split oil burning off or similar.

Not really local to me but am happy to make the drive for a proper job! Will give it another run this afternoon and see if it still smokes.

Is there anywhere in the bham or cov area ??

Thanks.

API I think are in warwickshire. It is probably your rocker cover gaskets, they do tend to let small amounts of oil out over a period of time so its probably a small drip onto the manifolds that is causing the smoke

As already mentioned API probably the closest, also highly recommended. Tend to take mine to Powerstation as I work in Tewkesbury (Glos.). They're good too.

Mine's doing this at the moment. Had it fixed about 18 months ago but gone again. It is usually the o/s one. If you put your blower on to direct the air at your body you should be able to smell the oil as it is drawn in to the cabin.

Sorry, forgot to add it is most noticeable when sat in traffic with the blower on. You can't mistake the smell. In fact the wife took the car out last week and remarked on it.

defo sounds like rocker cover gaskets. I just had mine replaced after sitting at lights with the smell of burning oil coming into the cabin.

Will have a look tomorrow - didn't notice any smoke when I took it out earlier but engine bay does smell afterwards - reminds me of being in the pit lane at silverstone !!

Is there a definitive list of things to look out for with MY95 WRX ?? Just want to be sure I have all the bases covered before any mods are added.

Thanks again for all your help guys.
