Default Been stopped TWICE in 5 days by the Police!

First time at 6:30am on my way to work, as the Police had had a "tip off" That some drivers using that road at that time while unfit through drink, Again 4 days later I was stopped at 5:04pm on my way home from work, as the Police had had a "tip off" that drivers using that road at that time were driving without insurance.........
No problem for me as I'm always legal and I don't drink and drive.....
Now fine and good I hear you all say!, BUT, On both occasions I was the only car pulled out of a line of traffic!, I would'ent normally mind but it seems a little directed at me!, But the best part is.......I was'ent even driving my scoob, just a piece of dirt escort I use for work!

So can a roadside Police officer just wave you in if you have commited no offence? Workmates have differing opinions, your's woud be helpful too.....

Course theycan, it's called random stop checks ro summat.

The fact that you are driving an escort sums it all up. These are inevitably old and there are a high number of old bangers going round with no ins/tax etc. Bet if you had a newish ford focus then you wouldn't get pulled.

The only way around it, is not to drive an old banger (no offence to your car like) but it's an old escort so it will get pulled.

When I was 17 I was stopped 3 times on one morning on my way to work . Quite right too, it was very early morning and three lads in a Mini must have looked like trouble about to happen.

A few years ago over Christmas I got stopped 3 days in a row....wasn't doing anything any of the times, it was just part of their drink/driving campaign.

usually when officer dibble pulls you over the first thing they say is turn the vehicle off and step to the side of the road.(or something like that)so if your in a scooby you cant just turn the engine off like that it needs a few mins idle time.my point is so what do they say when you say i cant turn the car off, anyone experienced anything like this.

Without getting into another retarded 'net argument about cooldown, I think you should just turn the engine off pretty damn ricky-tick when asked to do so by a copper. It's not like you've just come in from a hot lap of the nurburgring.

LOLz0rs. And well said! Very true that a cool down is required after a hard thrash, but ffs when you are just tootling around there is no need as it is no different to any other car then. No boost, so no hard use of turbo, etc, etc.

if you are using boost regardless of hard driving or not its always safer to let the engine idle, unless of course you are driving like a nun on the convents charity run.

I cant see the need to be honest if your driving around town. Do people with Golf TDi's let their engines cool down in case the turbo blows up?

if your driving anywhere doesnt matter where your driving if your using boost you need to idle for a min fact.if your driving off boost all the time then no need to idle.
no comparison between a diesel turbo and a scoob you could run a tdi on chip fat and it would still do 80,000,000 miles

Nope just turn my Golf off - regardless of how hard I've been driving it.

In case i'm mistaken, You let the engine cool down to prevent damage to the turbo. So, yes I'd say there is a comparison.

I dont drive like a nun, but I'm not on boost all the time.

If thats what you get up to with the law thats your business, but, for fucks sake, your car doesn't have to idle a minute or so after "normal" driving. Or are you one of the ***** that redlines your car everywhere.

If you've been driving 'on boost' and a copper pulls you over - it's probably a fair cop

let me get this straight you only need to let the engine idle if driving on the nurburgring or in redline all the time haha so everyone with a turbo timer has to drive in the redline all the time or the at the nurburgring.owners manual and on every turbo car ive owned it says let the engine idle.OH BIG AL REAL TURBO NOT A MOBILE CHIPPY.
obviously because its caused so much intrest none of you let your engines ilde after so called normal driving considering the turbo kicks in between 2500 and 3000 surely entering a motorway or dual carriage way or safe overtaking you accelerate above 2500 to 3000 thus using boost.
surely its safer to let the engine idle for a min or two or you in such a rush all the time that you cant spare this amount of time to look after your scooby properly.

FFS - A turbocharged car is a turbocharged car! if you wanna spend all day warming your engine down, after little journeys round town, or every time you use boost, then thats up to you. Theres hardly any need. You must spend half you day sat in your car going nowhere!

I do take a couple of minutes to let the turbo wind down. IF my driving has warranted so. Not every time i've driven my car. There is no need.

Yes, about ten minutes will be fine, unless you pre-warm your V-power, then you only need 2 minutes. Or your turbo/engine will blow up.
